Yup, there's definitely enough interest in having a secret Santa, so sign ups are starting today. Sign ups will only be open until Tuesday, December 8th to give players a full two weeks to write their stories, so sign up as soon as possible!

The original plan was not to have one due to October's event and then NaNo for those who participate in November and then the events we're planning in January, so December was going to be a month off, but if there's interest in doing a secret Santa, let me know and we'll do it. :)

The month of March houses the date of one of the most amusing discoveries of all time. Oh yes, it was the planet Uranus that was officially discovered by Sir William Herschel, on March 13, 1781.

Uranus is the butt of many grade school jokes and definitely one planet that our boys appreciate, and let's show it some love with a good, old fashioned Secret Santa (Secret Astronomer?) story exchange! Uranus has entertained us for over 200 years, so let's take some of the pressure off it and entertain each other!

Anyone who plays will get a prompt from another author which they will have two weeks to write. Meanwhile, someone will be writing a very special story just for you in return! At the end of two weeks, the stories get sent out anonymously, showing up in your inbox on the morning of April 3rd.

Just a reminder that you have one week left to nominate stories. Nominations will end Sunday, February 1st. On Monday, February 2nd, voting will begin and last until the following Friday.

On another note, reading all of these stories has inspired me to want to write, and I'm sure others must be feeling that, too. ^_^ Originally, I was planning on holding a Secret Santa type event for Valentine's day, but considering how late I started the awards, I'm wondering if I'm cutting it too close.

The sign up would have to begin this week and writing would take place the week of voting and the week following, ending on the 12th. So the question is: is there any interest? And if so, when should that event start?

Also, I wanted to note that the [secret santas] tag is for non-fiction related posts, so in case we want to keep the whole of this time around's stories together, I'm going to be creating another tag (probably [secret santas April 2008]) that you can post along with your story if you like. Removed the tag due to lack of interest.
