Rating: PG-13 for blood and death.
Pairing: Brad/Ryan
Summary for the chapter: The mission commences....
Overall Summary: Brad's running his own large business and has everything but what he wants the most: someone to be there for him. After 'purchasing' Ryan from the Utopia group to serve the purpose, he slowly realizes that he's breaking their most important rule: he's falling in love with him. After two years together, two years of love, the time has come for Ryan to be taken away. The rules will change, the game will too and the three friends are going to go through the ultimate test.
A/N: Ah, my last post for the year....and this stupid story still isn't over! *headdesks* On the shortish side, but the ship's hit the fan!
Darting back to their previous position, Brad and Wayne clambered back into the building they had been sitting in before and remained at the ready with their guns for any enemy movement. Moving the bodies to a place where they wouldn’t be found by anyone not searching thoroughly, they waited for Ryan at the rendezvous point, occasionally ticking their eyes towards the guitar case as if it would disappear if they didn’t keep an eye on it. Ryan was supposed to have returned quite a few minutes ago and he wasn’t responding to their calls on the wireless. Though they knew he could take care of himself, they were beginning to get a little worried.
“How long has it been?” Brad asked Wayne, biting his lip.
“Half hour since we got the cocaine,” Wayne responded, looking out again. Still no sign of Ryan.
“Do you think we should look for him?” Brad asked, “he said that he’d be late, but it’s been a long time and-”
“We can’t. If we get caught, then the entire plan will go down the drain. Give him some more time, he’ll get here. He has to be really careful, after all.”
Another few minutes passed and Brad was beginning to feel like he would throw up due to the worry. Still no sign of Ryan. He got up and grabbed the binoculars, intending to look out at the rooftops, when a figure suddenly landed in front of him, causing him to yelp and bring his gun up in defense when it was snatched away from him and his mouth covered.
“Shh, it’s me!” Ryan whispered urgently. Brad pushed his hand away and hugged him tightly, feeling the knot in his stomach loosen up as he took in the fact that Ryan was, indeed, alive and well. He appeared relatively unharmed, looking only a little ruffled but the dark bruise on his cheek showed that he hadn’t gotten out completely unscathed. That and he appeared to have discarded the hooded shirt he had been wearing earlier for his usual black sweater with the sleeves rolled up to mid elbow and the bullet proof vest. He handed Brad’s gun back to him and knelt down to open the guitar case, albeit with a little difficulty due to the sniper rifle attached to his back. “Is this actually the cocaine?”
“Yup,” Wayne nodded, “I tasted a little to make sure. Just enough to confirm, not enough to get stoned!” he added hastily at Ryan’s horrified look.
“I should hope so. Great, so far things are going well.” Ryan snapped the case shut, “the snipers are all out. Sorry it took me so much time, but those guys weigh a ton and one of them nearly threw me off the roof. Anyway, we’re still on the dot with the plan. There’s a small problem though and Colin got this through to me soon after I left; they’ve activated some sort of cell blocker, meaning we won’t be able to communicate via the wireless. That also means that you guys have to come with me so that I can tell you when to head for the exit. Now, to make it there, we’ll have to move over the rooftops, but they’re quite easy to scale. I’ll give you a hands up and everything, but we need to move now. Let’s go.”
Brad nodded and hefted up the cocaine, following Ryan through the maze of rooftops, “By the way, what happened to your shirt?”
“Let’s just say it’s a pile of ashes now. Snipers shouldn’t be allowed to have lighters....”

“Jesus, this is horrible,” Brad grunted as he clambered over another crate. Ryan was doing much better, but even he was having trouble moving about with the constant drops and climbs.
“Look, I’m not enjoying this each other, but buck up. We’re nearly there,” Ryan dropped down again and heard the two of them groan from behind. Sighing, he turned back and held out his arms, only grunting slightly as they dropped the guitar case to him before making their way down as well. Putting a finger to his lips, he crouched down and moved across the rooftop before lying down flat behind a six inch high brick line that was their viewpoint. Brad and Wayne followed suit and peered over carefully, spotting the men that they were supposed to keep an eye on. Among them, Colin and Greg were easy to spot; Colin due to his head and Greg due to his clothes, a sharp suit instead of the practical clothes the other were wearing. He saw them exchange word he couldn’t hear and nearly jumped out of his skin as he heard the silent hiss of bullets sliding through a silencer.
On the roof opposite them, he saw two men slump onto their rifles, the heaviness of their slump showing that they were dead. Turning back with wide eyes, he looked at Ryan, speechless as the other man loaded the sniper rifle once again. Ryan felt his gaze on him and paused in his reloading, looking at him with a confused expression, “What?”
“N-never mind,” Brad swallowed, turning his attention back to the meeting and trying not to flinch every time he heard- and felt due to their closeness- Ryan fire, knowing that another man was dead with each bullet. He had known that Ryan would take lives tonight, but actually being with him as he did it was completely different. He wondered how much blood would stain their hands by the time the night was over, but he still couldn’t make himself regret it. They were doing this for a reason, one that he would readily pick up a gun for.
“That takes care of the last of the snipers,” Ryan murmured to them and placed the gun behind them. It was no longer required as whatever would happen now would be in close quarters. King, the man Greg was trading with, was looking increasingly impatient and the air in the warehouse was beginning to turn hostile. Greg still looked calm, but Ryan knew that he was getting worried as well. He gave it another ten minutes before hell broke loose. Turning to Brad and Wayne, he gave them an encouraging smile and held up his fingers, showing them how much time they had before they were to move. All was going to plan.
Until one of the dead snipers slid off the roof and landed right in between Greg and King.
Ryan cursed loudly as the men immediately began searching their surroundings and grabbed the case, gesturing for the other two to follow him. They had to get away from here before they were discovered and he had no doubt that while he was strong, even he couldn’t beat so many people. Urging Brad and Wayne in front of him as he heard people scramble up the scaffolding behind them, he glanced back to see them looking around for them, but they were still out of immediate sight.
“Ryan!” Brad’s worried tone brought his attention back to the matter at hand and he saw one of Greg’s men climb up to the roof they were just about to step on and reacted immediately, dropping down and forward and kicking the man hard, knocking him out even as he fell ten feet to the ground.
“Get to your previous position and find a way out,” Ryan tossed the guitar case to them, “I’ll hold them off long enough for you guys to escape.”
“Are you crazy?” Brad snapped, grabbing his arm, “You’ll get killed!”
“I’ll be fine,” Ryan insisted, “I’ll lose them somewhere along here and make my way there. Wait there for ten minutes and if I don’t show up, get out of there and to safety. Don’t waste a single minute, you understand?”
“Absolutely not! Ryan-”
“We don’t have time to argue!” Ryan yelled, pulling his arm away, “Start moving and get out of here! NOW!”
Wayne pulled Brad away and started running back the way they came as Ryan diverted the attention of the six chasers by leaping across to a lower roof and taking off in the opposite direction. They fired at him, but he blended in with his surroundings well enough for the shots to miss him. They couldn’t tell if he had the case of not, but they still continued the pursuit, leaving Brad and Wayne with an open road back.
“Be careful,” Brad whispered before turning all his attention onto their path. There was nothing more he could do now.

Colin knew that his plan was to be completely scrapped the moment the dead man dropped in front of them. He had not anticipated something like this and that was a big mistake. He saw six of King’s men clamber up to the rooftops and saw Brad, Ryan and Wayne run off. Pretending to not see them, he instead started herding Greg and King to what he deemed a safe spot, hoping that they would still be able to carry out the main parts of the plan. The police would not move for another half hour which meant that he had to keep them here for another hour at the very most.
“What the hell is going on, Colin?!” Greg screamed, absolutely enraged. Colin fought the urge to just punch him and simply responded in his usual calm and quiet manner.
“Apparently there’s an assassin here somewhere,” he stated dryly, “but he won’t get far. I’ve told the others to block every exit and not allow anyone in or out.”
“What about us?” King asked in a gruff, distrusting tone. Colin was surprised he hadn’t lost it completely and ordered everyone to be killed.
“You will have to stay here and keep safe. I need to go find that assassin....and kill him.”
“Don’t,” Greg shook his head, scratching his chin in thought, “Bring him back alive. I think we need to find out who wants us dead, don’t you?”
“I agree,” King turned to Colin, “find him and bring him here alive. His masters shall die mostly horribly along with him.”
“Consider it done,” Colin smirked, but inwardly was trying to stop his gorge from rising. If these sick men got their hands on any of them....he shook the thought out of his mind as he ran out and headed to the place he knew Brad and Wayne would be if they had followed Ryan’s instructions. He just had to pray that Ryan would hold out long enough for him to reach him as well.
This can't really be the end!
Date: 2013-08-14 01:23 pm (UTC)Is this actually the last post, or are they just very, very hard to find online. (God knows I've been searching for a while)
It's weird though, I could've swore there were 38 parts, but I cant seem to find anything past part 34.
If the writer of story reads this, please tell me if it is a finished story (It just seems weird to end it so close to the ending.) If someone else is reading this, please tell me if you know where the other parts of the story are. T_T I just can't accept this as the end.
