Title: Walking in the Rain
Pairing: Ryan/Colin
Rating: PG

Summary: A walk home in the rain.

A/N: Something influenced by a really cute pic I saw on deviantart by someone who drew Ryan standing in the rain and holding an umbrella over Colin! That and the fact that the monsoon has just begun for me, I decided it was too sweet to keep to myself! Hope you guys enjoy! Please leave a comment!

Colin sighed as he looked out at the pouring rain and then in the direction of the hotel he was staying in. He still hadn’t been in England long enough to learn that the weather could change at any time and that a sunny morning didn’t mean no rain in the night. With no cabs available and everyone who could have given him a lift gone, the only choice he had, besides staying at the studio, was to walk. Tugging at his jacket, he set out, a hiss escaping his lips as the full torrent of the cold rain pelted against him. At this rate, he would get soaked before even reaching more than a few steps. Just when he was about to turn back, however, he felt someone move next to him and most of the rain was blocked from him.

“Trying to give yourself pneumonia?” an amused voice asked him.

Colin scowled at Ryan, but there was heat behind it. His goofy friend was also holding an umbrella above his head with a raised eyebrow, silently asking a question. Colin simply shrugged, but had the grace to look sheepish as Ryan chuckled before automatically moving in step to the hotel they had been housed in. Colin made a few attempts at small talk, but he was shivering from the cold and the rain was still pelting him because since Ryan was holding the umbrella, the only way for him to stay dry was to hold it a good few inches above Colin’s head, causing him to get whipped by the rain that snuck under the umbrella’s protective covering. Still, Ryan was happily chatting with him and soon, Colin forgot about the rain and could have sworn that he actually felt the rain thin because soon, he could not feel so much as a drop. Happy that the rain was decreasing, he quickened his pace, hoping to reach the hotel before it started again. Finally nearly at the lobby, he turned to Ryan to thank him for sharing the umbrella only to gasp in surprise and no little horror.

“Ryan, you’re soaked!” Colin said in concern, taking in his friend’s appearance. Indeed, the stick-thin comedian looked like a drowned rat and he was visibly shivering under his sodden clothes. Colin couldn’t figure out how in the world he could have gotten so wet with an umbrella and then looked up to see that it was still raining cats and dogs, but the umbrella that he had thought was covering both of them was only covering him.

“Ryan, you idiot! Why didn’t you cover yourself?!” Colin asked, rubbing his hands along Ryan’s arms, trying desperately to warm him up.

Ryan didn’t say a word but simply smiled as if that was all he needed to say. Colin decided to leave the matter for a moment and tugged Ryan into the hotel lobby, quickly making his way to his room and ordering Ryan to get out of his wet clothes. He rummaged around in his bag for some warm, dry clothes, tossing them to Ryan along with a towel. A few minutes later, Ryan was dry, but he was still shivering and Colin didn’t like how cold his skin still felt to the touch. He quickly made a hot cup of coffee and, after ushering Ryan to get under the covers of the bed, got into the bed with him, wrapping an arm around his shoulders to keep him warm as he sipped at the hot liquid.

“Why didn’t you cover yourself?” Colin asked later, once the coffee was finished and Ryan was falling asleep in his arms, his body finally warming up.

“You can’t get wet,” Ryan yawned, “You’ll get sick.”

Colin smiled at the response and placed a soft kiss in his dozing lover’s hair, “You idiot.”

“Your idiot,” Ryan responded, curling into his warmth, “’Night, Col.”

Colin tugged him closer and savored the warmth between them, “Good night Ry.”
