Ryan let out a small chuckle as he felt lips brush against his chest before opening his eyes to meet Brad’s fond gaze. A quick glance at the alarm clock next to them showed that it was just about 9:30, the time that Brad normally got up for work. He wrapped his arms around his lover’s shoulders and pulled him down into a deep kiss, slipping his hand down to meet Brad’s morning wood, stroking gently. Brad groaned into his mouth and slid his arms around Ryan, rolling them over so that Ryan on top of him. He pulled away for a moment to grin, brushing his hair away from his face before turning his attention to Ryan’s neck, kissing and nipping his way to his ear.
“How soon before you have to be at work?” Ryan asked, moaning softly.
“I have about half an hour before I have to leave,” Brad hissed as Ryan’s hand tightened around him.
“And when will you be back?”
“Six in the evening.....God, Ry....”
Ryan smiled as Brad’s breath left him in one sharp gasp as he tensed and spilled over his hand. He moved back slightly to give him some time to recover before swooping down for another demanding kiss.
“You are so amazing, do you know that?” Brad growled, twining one hand in his hair and pulling his head back to expose his throat to his eager lips.
“You’re not so bad yourself,” Ryan moaned, closing his eyes, “But you better hurry up, or I’ll never get your breakfast ready.”
“Well, I can’t just let you get away that easily,” Brad smirked, trialing one hand down Ryan’s back and probing his entrance with a finger.
Ryan fought the urge to push back against them, but it was hard with Brad so insistently moving against him, trying to make him let go, “Brad, you’ll be late-”
“Screw that,” Brad managed to slip his finger in and tapped Ryan’s prostate lightly, causing him to gasp out Brad’s name, “I prefer you to work anytime.”
“But-” Brad silenced him with a deep kiss and another light scraping of his prostate. Soon enough, Brad had another finger joining the first and that was the end to all of Ryan’s protests. He rolled them over to take his position over Ryan, grinning as Ryan didn’t even notice, too caught up in the pleasure Brad was giving him.
“Well, if you want to do this,” Ryan’s breath hitched as Brad pressed a light kiss to his lips, “for God’s sake, don’t tease me!”
“Whatever you say, darling,” Brad smirked before wrapping his free hand around Ryan’s length and stroking him to an orgasm. Ryan smiled at him once he had recovered and cupped his face in his hands, pulling him down for a loving kiss, stroking his cheek, “I love you.”
“And I you,” Brad smiled back, then looked over at the clock, “Now be a dear and fetch me a drink now, will you?”
Ryan’s jaw dropped in mock outrage, “Why you no good bastard!” he laughed, pushing Brad off him, “What happened to my desire being your command?”
“Honeymoon’s over, babe,” Brad drawled with a grin, “Now shoo and be quick about it.”
Ryan shook his head as he put on his clothes and walked out, good-naturedly muttering loud enough Brad to hear about he ‘took him for granted’. He couldn’t wipe the smile on his face even if his life would depend on it. For him, life couldn’t get any better. Every day would start out with him and Brad waking up in each others arms, having just about the time for quickie or, if there was more time, then just cuddling on the bed, talking about everything and nothing. The rest of his day was spent either talking to Wayne or some other work around the house and nights were spent performing with Wayne on stage at his bar and then back to Brad’s bed. It was a routine that he was addicted to and loved. On his way to the kitchen, he stopped by to pick up the mail that had been delivered and flickered through it, sorting out the bills, junk mail and letters from Brad’s parents and Wayne’s brother.
Today, however, there was something new in the mail. Something for him. Ryan picked it out curiously, setting down the rest of the mail and looked for the return address. On finding none, he decided to simply open the letter and read what was inside. After all, what harm could just opening an envelope do? He drew out the letter and skimmed his eyes over it, focusing mostly on the end of the letter.
His face grew pale.

Brad growled in frustration as another loud crack of thunder and lightning illuminated his office and finally threw down his pen, deciding to call it in early and finish his work at home. If this storm kept up, he’d endure hell in traffic on his way back and he didn’t want to come home too late, knowing Ryan would be worried. It was rare for a thunderstorm to last as long as this current one, but he wasn’t about to waste more time wondering about the weather. Gathering his papers and giving his secretary the day off, he headed down to his car, hoping that he’d make it home before the rain got any worse. He had a feeling that he needed to talk to Ryan about something, remembering his rather subdued self this morning.
Normally, Ryan was happily chatting with him at breakfast, inquiring about what he planned to do today, what he would like for dinner or just something he had read in the paper. Today, however, Ryan had spoken only when spoken to and Brad noticed that he seemed to be on a completely different planet than him, but decided not to press it for the moment. Now, however, was a different matter.
The moment he stepped into the house after getting stuck in traffic for over two hours, he felt a large lump hug him tightly, nearly knocking the wind out of him.
“Thank God, you’re back,” Ryan whispered, hiding his face in Brad’s neck. Brad felt his concern increase ten fold as he wrapped his arms around his lover, holding him tightly.
“What’s wrong? Are you okay?” he asked softly. Ryan shook his head against his shoulder and he felt him tense as another loud crack of thunder sounded.
“I don’t like thunderstorms,” Ryan whispered, much like a scared child.
Understanding dawned on Brad and he felt a bit of guilt about not knowing about that earlier. Considering that the storm had been going on for the past three or so hours, he assumed that Ryan must have been a nervous wreck, especially since he was alone in the house. He managed to move them towards the long couch and sat down, still holding Ryan to him.
“Don’t be afraid,” Brad whispered as another loud boom of thunder sounded, “I’ll protect you.”
Not for long,” Ryan whispered back, tightening his hold on Brad.
“What do you mean?” Brad frowned, “Ryan, you’re scaring me now. You’ve been off all day. Is everything all right?”
Ryan didn’t say anything, just reached into his pocket and withdrew a crumpled letter that seemed to have been read several times. Brad took it from him and, not letting go for even a moment, read it over Ryan’s shoulder. As his eyes took in the last few words, his face paled and he could have sworn that his heart stopped beating for a moment.
The letter was for Ryan from Drew. A new client has shown interest in you and the payment has been accepted. In a month, your contract with Brad Sherwood will expire and the new one will begin for a duration of three years. I advise that you begin packing now, I will send someone to pick you up a month from now. Signed, Drew.
Brad shook his head in denial, throwing the letter to the floor and squeezing Ryan tightly, almost as if trying to hide him from the world. Ryan returned the hold whole-heartedly and Brad could tell by the slight heaving of his body that Ryan was trying to hold back his tears. Brad was no better and the news that his lover, his love, was going to be taken away from him in a month was possibly the worst news he thought he would ever hear. Since that one night in Paris a year ago, he had forgotten about Drew completely. He had allowed himself to fall in love, despite the fact that he knew that it would not last beyond that contract. Worse, he had made Ryan fall in love with him. Ryan was the one who would have to be with another man and, if he didn’t do so, he didn’t doubt that Drew would end up forcing him if it came to that.
“God, love, I’m so, so sorry,” Brad chocked out, stroking Ryan’s hair as he felt the slight wetness of his shirt, “I’m sorry.”
“Why?” Ryan pulled back, “It’s my fault! I knew about this contract the entire time! I should have discouraged you! I should never have said....” he trailed off, tears escaping his eyes.
“Said what? I said it to you first! It’s my fault! I knew about this too, Ry, but I’m the one who forced you to break the rules,” Brad whispered harshly, “How can you think this is your fault?! You’ve done nothing wrong, you hear me? Nothing!”
Ryan stayed silent, resting his head against Brad’s shoulder and closed his eyes, just soaking in the feel. Who knew when he’d bet the chance to do this again?
“You said that it’s possible I could....get you permanently from Drew, right?” Brad asked, “I’ve got money, I’m sure-”
“No,” Ryan shook his head, “Once a contract has been confirmed, you can’t back out on it. Even if Drew accepted the payment, which I’m sure would be an astronomical amount, you’d have to wait until the end of the other contract and you wouldn’t want me then.”
“What?!” Brad sounded shocked and tilted Ryan’s face up to look him in the eye, “What wouldn’t I want you?”
“I’m going to be someone else’s Brad,” Ryan responded, trying to steel his voice, “Can you honestly tell me you’ll still want me after knowing that I’ve been with another man for three years? That he touched me?”
“Yes,” Brad responded with resolution, “I’ll still want you because I’ll know that no matter what you’ve been forced to do, you’ll still be mine. You’re always going to be mine, Ry, I’ll never let you go.”
A ghost of a smile flicked across Ryan’s face before he turned serious again, “Don’t say that.”
“It’s the truth.”
“I don’t want it to be.”
“Why?” Brad looked a little hurt and Ryan clarified quickly.
“I don’t want you to keep yourself cut off from other possible relationships because of me. You deserve someone who can be with you all the time, not some slut-”
Brad kissed him hard and deep, swallowing the dark words, clutching to him as if he were his lifeline. He trailed his hand from Ryan’s face to his hair, reveling in the feel, just trying to soak up every emotion, every sensation so that it would last him during the future lonely nights.
“Don’t you dare say anything like that about yourself,” Brad whispered, touching his forehead to Ryan’s and looking into the watery emerald green orbs, “I won’t let anyone ever say that about you. You’re are an amazing person, Ry, and I won’t have you talking yourself down.”
Ryan smiled, brightly for the first time since he had received the letter and cupped Brad’s face in his hands, placing light kisses on his forehead, cheeks, jaw, nose and lips. When he finally pulled back, his wrapped his arms around Brad’s shoulders and said, “Make love to me.”
“Huh?” Brad looked slightly confused, but not at all unwilling.
“I want to remember this for the next four years, Brad,” Ryan whispered, kissing him again, “I want to see you in my dreams every night. Right now, I just want us to be a part of each other.”
Brad nodded, kissing Ryan again before standing up, still holding onto to him. They made their way to their shared bedroom, still kissing and dropped to the bed, not breaking apart. There was another loud crack of thunder and Ryan tensed, instinctively burrowing his face into Brad’s chest again. Brad smiled slightly and rested his chin on top of his head, pressing a kiss to the curls and allowing Ryan the time he needed. This night would be one of the last they would have and Brad was in no hurry. If he could, he would make it last forever, just laying in bed with his arms around the person he loved. Ryan looked up at him sheepishly and Brad simply grinning and kissed him. Ryan returned it happily and this time didn’t even react to the flash of lightning.
“Not afraid anymore?” Brad asked, pulling away.
Ryan shook his head with a smile, “You make the scary thing go away.”
Brad smiled back and rolled Ryan onto his back, taking his lips in another deep kiss. As he turned his attention to his neck and as they slowly removed each others’ clothing, he took a moment to inhale his scent, praying to God that something would come up to stop Ryan from leaving him. For the first time, he was faced with something his money could not solve and he didn’t like it. He had finally fallen in love and it had to be with the one person who couldn’t be with him forever. Even though he knew that his next words would just make the pain worse, he felt that he had to say them to strengthen his resolve to wait for his love.
“I love you, Ryan.”
“I love you too, Brad.”
