Chapter 10
Colin hurried below deck and hopped into the shower, hissing at the heat of the water compared to the cold stuff they had on deck. He rested his head against he wall, cursing himself up and down, wondering if the paint would peel off the wall anytime soon. He’d just done one of the more idiotic things of his life to the only guy in years who had thought him okay to be a friend.
How could I have been so stupid?! Ryan was a smart guy, he has a good track record and had never been put on record for anything irresponsible, what on Earth had convinced you he’d just leave you to potentially drown while he had a little swim with the dolphins?! Colin sighed, setting to work scrubbing down. No use beating yourself up about it now… man did he have to put the oil on so thickly? Colin smiled quietly, scrubbing at the baby oil with the generic soap they had on board. Ryan hands had felt so good, as did those long arms around him holding him tight, the soft voice tickling his ear.
He glanced down to find a generous erection and pondered it. He tilted his head towards the door, but didn’t hear anything… he got some more soap, flushing at his own daring. He could be heard, after all… which only made him pulse harder… he envisioned Ryan’s arms as he brought both hands into play, soaping up, lathering before gripping his base tightly and soaping all the way up, stealing his breath in a soft gasp.
He leaned against the wall of the shower, pumping, shutting his eyes tightly, trying to recall every nuance of Ryan, so sun-kissed, his golden curls, wet with water… his hand pumped faster, and already he’d felt that wonderful edge god he hadn’t done this in a while but it felt so good. Finally, he imagined Ryan’s hands, so strong as they tugged at him, and his voice so low and husky with its pleased murmurings in his ear… they were very realistic in fact… wait… Colin blinked.
“Hey Col?” it was Ryan.
Shit shit shit! “Y-yeah?” Colin panted, trying to make his voice sound normal.
“Just letting you know that I made us dinner tonight… kay?”
Had Ryan heard him? Would he be angry or weirded out? Would he join him in helping? Stop it! “Oh… okay, I’ll be out in a little bit…”
He cursed as he heard Ryan’s soft tromping move away and rested his head against the wall. He’d been so close… and Jesus he had been on the right track. He looked down at his erection, fading from the sudden jolt of fear of being discovered. A knee-jerk reaction ever since he’d been walked in on by Mrs. Next Door when he was a kid.
“Fuck.” he spat, shutting down the shower and toweling off before going into the little dining area to see what Ryan had… created.
Ryan thanked god for Hamburger Helper and popped some generously buttered bread into the toaster before moving off to let Colin know. It was all he could do since behaving like an ass… just as he raised his hand to knock on the door, he heard… something… his mind flew into over drive at what Colin was possibly doing on the other side of the little door, naked, soapy, flushed pink and absolutely delicious looking.
Ryan rested his forehead on the door, finding himself rubbing at his hardened groin as he listened to Colin showering, panting a little as he clutched himself tightly. A particularly loud thump from behind the door made him jump, biting his lip as he shook himself, chuckling slightly at himself. And how would that look to an outsider, he wondered, masturbating at the sound of his friend showering.
He composed himself and knocked on the door. It took a moment before a tentative, “Y-yeah?” floated out to him.
… had he been doing what Ryan had thought him doing? “Uh, just letting you know I made us dinner tonight, ‘kay?”
There was a pregnant pause before Colin answered. “Oh… okay, I’ll be out in a little bit…”
Ryan nodded, raking his hands through his curls stiff with sea water and moved off, wondering if there’d be enough hot water left to use… but probably not until tomorrow morning… he sighed, setting out the glasses and plates full of the steaming, cheesy goodness and was waiting for the bread when Colin came out.
Colin gave him a shy smile, tugging on his shirt. “So… what are we having?” he asked.
“The staple of American food, of course,” Ryan said with a wry grin, pulling out a beer and offering one to Colin, who took it and popped it before pouring it into the glass. “Hamburger Helper with buttered toast, thankfully it’s that fancy loaf Ron stuck in here, so I didn’t have to use the sandwich stuff,” he sighed, pulling the hot pieces of toast out and setting one on Colin’s plate.
“It smells great,” Colin smiled, “Listen…” he sighed.
Ryan froze, mid sip of his beer, feeling a little apprehensive all the sudden… well, a little more.
“I know I already apologized for what I said… and I know you did too, but I still feel like an asshole… all that stuff I said…” Colin ran his hand through the fringe of his hair. “If you want to cancel the rest of the trip, I wouldn’t blame you in the least…”
Ryan took a bite of the steaming noodle mass and wiped at his mouth. “No… I don’t want to go back, because it was a miscommunication on many different layers… we both apologized, so lets just forget about it,” He shrugged. Colin opened his mouth to protest, but Ryan stopped him. “Tell you what, you sell me your soul and I’ll consider us even,”
Colin blinked at him, “What? No!” he smiled nervously, trying to figure out if Ryan was joking or not.
“Okay, then I’ll settle for your first born,”
“I don’t even have a brother, much less someone in my life to propagate with,” Colin gave him a look somewhat dampened by the smile sneaking into it as he tucked into the meal. It was a little tasteless, but it hit the spot.
“Okay, you’re life savings, plus Social Security,” Ryan suggested around a mouthful.
“Nope, you’d be broke in a week,” Colin sighed woefully, making Ryan chuckle.
“Fine, then how about you just stop worrying about it,” Ryan said seriously.
Colin blinked, at a loss for words, then flushed slightly and poked at his noodles. He sighed, looking back up at Ryan and nodded. “Fine. It’s a deal,”
They shook on it, clinked glasses, and tucked in without another word on the subject.
The following day, when Colin was getting ready for his dive, Ryan asked if he wanted to check the oxygen tanks he had refilled.
“No….I trust you.” Was all Colin said in reply, without looking up from his maps.
It had made Ryan feel good for the rest of the day.
