WWB Part 3! You know the drill!

Drew and Brad would be getting married the next day. Tonight, everyone was arriving and they were having a little party. All the cast and Laura Hall was there, Dan stayed behind, but they really didn’t care. He was being a prick as usual.

Brad grinned as he saw his mother come up. “Mom!” he kissed her as she got herself a drink. “Hello, Bradley! Hi, Drew.”

Drew smiled and hugged her. Brad’s mom and him got along great. “Hi, Mrs. Sherwood.”

She slapped his arm playfully. “Oh, call me Mama! You’re gonna be my son-in-law, after all.”

He chuckled. “Yes, I am.”

“Hey, what about me?” A voice made them turn.

Drew’s mother came up, a little wobbly. “Mom! You made it!” Drew said with joy, moving to hug and kiss her. Drew’s mother was dealing with cancer, and they didn’t know if she would be able to come. “I wouldn’t have missed it for the world!” She moved to kiss Brad and said hello to Brad’s mother.

It was a great party. There was drinks, music, laughing, talking, food…later on, while they were all eating, Brad made a toast. “Thank you all for coming. It’s a great time for Drew and I, we’re getting married tomorrow.” He smiled. “And I’m glad we’re surrounded by our friends and family for it. I’d like to make a toast to you all, thanks for sticking by us.” They toasted, then Ryan stood up.

“I’d like to have a word!”

“I recognize the tall guy from Bellingham.” Drew called playfully.

“I have known Brad for a long time, Drew for even longer. I’m glad that you both have found someone to make you happy. Thank God they’re together…because nobody else could possibly put up with them.” They all laughed. “To Brad and Drew!”

Then Drew’s mother stood. “For those who haven’t met me, I’m Drew’s mother, Beulah. I’m overjoyed that my son is getting married to a wonderful man who I know will take care of him.” She smiled warmly. “Drew has been a pillar of strength to me my entire life…and has taken care of me for several years. And after a long stretch of uncertainty, I have some happy news.” She turned to Drew. “As of three days ago, I am in remission.”

Drew clapped a hand over his mouth as happy tears started. A cheer rose up from the crowd. He ran to hug her. “Mom, that’s great!”

“I thought it would be a nice surprise!” She laughed.

“It’s a great surprise!”

Brad went to hug her too, and as he did, he whispered. “I’ll take care of Drew for you.”

“I know you’ll do a great job.” She whispered back.

Drew didn’t let anyone drive home. He was so happy he paid for everyone to stay in the hotel, especially his mother.

After saying goodnight, Drew had a grin threatening to break his face.

Brad hugged him. “You’re a great man, Drew Carey.”

He shook his head. “Well, I wanted to share the wealth. My mom’s gonna be okay!”

Brad kissed him. “I know, isn’t it great?”

There was a knock on the door. “Come in.”

Ryan and Colin stepped in. “Hey, you guys. We had a question for you.”

Colin sat down in a chair. “We wanted to know, since tomorrow’s the wedding, did you guys want to stay with each of us to keep tradition?”

Drew looked at them. “Not seeing each other before the wedding?” He shrugged. “I don’t care. Brad?”

Brad shrugged. “Why not? It’ll be all the more worth it when I see you.”

Ryan grinned. “Great! Grab some clothes, don’t forget your tuxes. Brad, you come with me, Colin, you stay with Drew.”

“Yay, slumber party!” Drew laughed. “We can paint our nails and talk about boys!”

Colin chuckled. “How about champagne and room service?”

“That’s good too.”

The next day, they met at the museum. Colin and Drew were in one room, Drew in his tux. He was fidgeting with his hands. Colin put a hand on his shoulder. “Drew, relax. Everything’s going to be fine.”

He sighed. “I know, it’s just…I want to this to be perfect. I’m marrying Brad!” He grinned.

“You really love him, don’t you?”

He looked at the ring on his finger. “I really do.”

Ryan poked his head in the door. He stepped in, tux at the ready. “Drew, you ready?”

Drew took a deep breath. “As ready as I’ll ever be.”

Ryan and Colin went to stand with the groomsmen and Drew saw Brad standing at the altar. He found his mother and gave her a hug and a kiss. Her smile was all he needed to hear. He went to stand by Brad and slid their hands together. “I love you.” He whispered.

“I love you, too.”

They nodded to the minister. “Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join Drew Allison Carey, and Bradley Ramone Sherwood in holy matrimony.”

They listened to him speak, but didn’t really hear him. “The couple has chosen to say their own vows to each other. Brad, would you?”

Brad took a deep breath and spoke. “Drew, when I moved in with you all those years ago, I never knew that I’d find a love that would last the test of time. I want you to know, that I love you and always will. You’ve been so independent all your life, and I know you’ve been hurting…but now, I want to take care of you. To love you.” He smiled. “I love you, Drew.”

Drew was wiping away tears by the end of Brad’s speech. He smiled at him. “Brad, I never thought I could hope that anyone could love me as much as you do. You’re right, I have been hurting. And the pain eases every day I can call you mine. And now that we’re about to become husbands, I know that one day, there will be a time…that I won’t feel any pain at all. I love you, Brad. I always will.”

By now, everyone was in tears. The minister spoke again. “The rings have already been presented, so I guess there’s nothing more to say. By the love between these two men and the province of Ontario, I declare you beloved husbands. You may kiss.”

Brad brushed away Drew’s tears and they kissed deeply, to the applause of everyone else. It was a blur as they went to the reception. Drew and Brad joined hands before they walked in. “I can’t believe we’re married.” Drew smiled at him, his eyes bright with tears.

Brad hugged him. “Believe it, babe. Look, here are the rings to prove it!” He brought their left hands together and the bands made a ‘clink’ sound as they came together.

Walking in, another cheer rose up. The two mothers went to hug their boys, and the DJ spoke:

“Okay, everyone please clear the floor for the grooms’ first dance, to More Than Words by Extreme.”

Drew and Brad slid into each other and they basically just swayed, moving around the floor. Listening, they realized how much the song really applied to them:

Saying ‘I love you’, is not the words I want to hear from you…

It’s not that I want you, not to say it, but if you only knew,

How easy, it would be to show me how you feel…

More than words, is all you have to do to make you real,

Then you wouldn’t have to say, that you love me…

‘Cause I’d already know…

Gazing into each other’s eyes, they realized right then, that it was real. They weren’t going to be lonely anymore. Drew leaned in and placed his head on Brad’s shoulder, Brad kissed his head and held him tighter. The song ended with them kissing, everyone clapped.

There were a few more dances, Drew danced with his mother, and Ryan and Colin had a dance. Greg and Jeff were sitting at the bar, tipsy but happy. Wayne was talking with Chip at a table.

“Okay, time for wedding gifts!” Ryan called, pulling the two grooms over to a table.

He handed them a package. “This is from me.”

Drew clapped him on the back as he opened it. He felt that it was some kind of fabric. He pulled it out and saw that it was two matching pairs of hot-pink silk boxers. Amid wolf-whistles and catcalls, he put them back in. “Thank you, Ryan.” He forced out, grinning and blushing.

Colin handed the other to Brad. “From me.”

Brad opened it. “Oh my God…” He breathed. He saw that they were tickets. “What is this?”

“Three-day passes to a honeymoon hotel in Ontario. Have a good time.”

They both hugged him, overwhelmed at receiving such a gift. Greg came up. “Here you are!” He was obviously drunk, slurring, overly happy, sweaty faced. Drew took it. “If it’s a bong, I’m going to kill you…” He joked.

He tore off the paper. It was a photo album, titled, ‘Drew and Brad – The Ages’. Flipping through it, it was photos of their childhoods and beyond. “Greg…” Drew was almost in tears. “This is amazing. How did you-“

“I got the photos from your moms and from your brothers.” Drew crushed Greg in a hug as did Brad. It was a very thoughtful gift.

Jeff, Chip, and Wayne came up. “We pitched in for this one.” They handed Brad a long flat box. Brad reached in and pulled out two identical silk robes, one red, one blue. “Wow!” They were absolutely gorgeous. Hugs all around once again.

“Last one is from me.” Beulah Carey came up, handed him a package unmistakably bookish.

“Oh, Mom, thanks…” Drew tore off the paper and nearly choked on his own spit. Everyone roared as they saw Drew holding ‘The Joy of Gay Sex’. He blushed a shade of deep red and his mother laughed. “Thought you would like it!”

Brad wrapped an arm around Drew’s shoulder. “Drew, I think I love my mother-in-law.”
