Colin/Ryan

Greg/Jeff

Summary:

Christmas fic! The gang tries to head to Ohio for a white Christmas but get a little sidetracked along the way. How will this fare the crew?

NOTE: No wives! Fluffy! This makes no sense!

They awoke to the smells of Colin cooking breakfast. Despite the flood of memories, Drew seemed as happy as he’d been in ages. “Morning!” He came down in a nice argyle sweater and slacks, looking very nice. He came to Colin and rubbed his back. “Smells great, man.”

“Sit down, it’s almost ready.” Colin told him with a smile. He plated everyone’s with bacon, eggs, and potatoes and they all sat down to eat. “Mmm, delicious.” Ryan mumbled. “Like always.”

“Anyone want a mimosa?” Drew asked, withdrawing a bottle of champagne. “How old is that?” Brad asked him.

“I woke up in the middle of the night and took a walk to a local shop.”

“And they had champagne?”

“Courtesy of the owner. He hadn’t seen me in a while.” He popped the bottle without ceremony and poured it and some OJ into glasses.

That day, they took it upon themselves to search Drew’s room for whatever else he had as a kid. “Whoa!” Greg exclaimed, holding up a dusty record. “These have to be worth something. Rolling Stones? Beatles? …Coltrane?”

“You’re forgetting, I played trumpet.” Drew chuckled. “Wow! Do I still have this?” He opened a case to reveal an old accordion. “It’s a lot smaller than I remember.” He slung the strap over his neck and started playing Lady of Spain. “That’s pretty good, Drew.”

“That’s my riding a bike song.” Drew said, putting it away. “You never forget it.”

“More Twinkies.” Jeff said. “This packaging is from the early 70s. I still dare one of you to eat one.”

“Oh, fine.” Drew unwrapped one and bit into it. “Spongy, but still edible.”

Colin shook his head. “Wow. Eating thirty year old Twinkies. What have we been reduced to?”

“Oh, we’ve lost track a while ago, Colin.” Brad chuckled.

It started to rain that afternoon, so they got a game of Scruples out of Drew’s closet. “Okay, Brad, this is your question.” Brad nodded. Ryan began.

“Your best friend invites you to his brothers wedding. You haven’t met the bride. Before the ceremony, you accidentally see the groom and a woman making love. When the ceremony happens, you realize the bride isn’t the same girl. Do you speak up?”

Brad whistled. “That’s a tough one. I guess it’d be if the bride was close to my friend or not.”

Greg took one. “Colin, here’s yours.” He read. “You’re asked to go to a magazine company for a photo shoot. When you get there, the photographer asks you to pose nude. However, he offers you five thousand dollars. Do you do it?”

“Yes.” Colin said, without hesitation. Ryan nearly spewed his drink across the room. “For five thousand dollars? Of course I would. You don’t pass up that kind of money.”

Greg chuckled. “I did a nude scene for a play in college. Equus.”

Jeff raised an eyebrow. “I would’ve liked to see that.”

Greg kissed him on the cheek. “Your turn, pooky.”

Jeff got a card. “Drew? Here’s yours.” He read. “Your spouse becomes a nervous wreck since she began trading on the internet. But she makes ten thousand a month. Do you make her stop?”

Drew frowned. “Of course. Your health is the most important thing after all.” Brad interlocked his fingers with Drew’s, smiling. “Isn’t he a sweetie?”

“Speaking of which, when are you two gonna get married?” Colin asked them.

Drew spoke up. “Well, our third anniversary’s coming up in May, we can do it then. And we’ll have to do it someplace where we can get a license. Maybe Vermont or Canada.”

“But if you go to Canada, it’ll be void when you re-enter the states.” Ryan said regretfully. “Vermont might be your best bet.”

“So it is. As long as I’ve got Brad.” Greg made a retching noise as they kissed. Jeff snickered. “Oh, grow up.”

“Wow, it still stands.” Drew sighed happily, as he got out the aluminum Christmas tree from the closet. “Mom and I never really used real Christmas trees, we couldn’t afford them. And we never got a permit to chop one down. This works, though.”

“I found the decorations.” Ryan said, handing him a box. “Here’s some tinsel.”

“Mistletoe!” Jeff grinned as he hung it over the doorway, grabbing Greg in a peppermint-y smooch. “Mmmm, candy canes.”

Drew was busy hanging the ornaments on it to notice. “Hey, does this fireplace still work?”

“Huh? Oh, yeah. Make sure the flue’s open, though.”

Brad put in some dry wood and newspapers and soon had a roaring fire going. “Hey, it’s snowing!” Colin said, as happy as a child.

Drew turned to look outside. There it was, flakes falling down. “Pretty.” He sighed wistfully, just staring at it. Brad went to him and hugged him from behind. “It is.”

They finished the tree quietly, and then spent the rest of the night just watching the snow fall, cuddling. It was a pleasant memory that was burned into their minds as they slept.
