I remember the day we met. Jim was insistent that he would be a perfect candidate for improv. Now keep in mind, that Jim knew his business, and I was never one to argue with him. But when I first saw him, I was doubtful.
Shame on me.
The first time I laid eyes on him, all I could think was “My god! He’s a real life Don Martin cartoon!” He looked as though he had just stepped out of the pages of MAD Magazine.
I look back on that day with fond memories now. Because despite my initial reaction to him, the moment we shook hands, I could feel the electricity between us. And nearly thirty years later, that same electricity still flows between us as strongly as the day we met.
I’m going to call Jim again, and thank him for the umpteenth time. He’ll probably be annoyed, but I can’t thank him enough for bringing Ryan Stiles into my life.
