Pairing: Ryan/Colin
Rating: R for sexy stuff
Summary: They haven't seen each other since the last show of Whose Line....but they're brought back together on stage in front of a live audience of screaming fans.
A/N: Haha....I don't even know if Rycolfan remembers this! We had done a fic exchange some time ago and she got hers done in a week while mine took me.....over a month. *looks sheepish* Well, it's here now! *hides from wrath of Rycolfan* :)
Colin smiled as he heard the sounds of the restless crowd waiting for them to come along and make them forget about every single worry and problem in their life for a few hours. A few hours without worrying about questions like ‘Will he call me back?’, ‘Will she take me back?’, ‘Will they let me study what I want to?’ and many other questions that could possibly change one’s life forever. Colin knew those questions well.
He was always exceedingly happy before a show, something to do with the stage burning in his blood and his own need to be doing something at some point of time. Idleness never really suited him. Brad had also announced that there was a surprise that he’d be unveiling during the show, but that, if anything, was actually making him nervous. Brad’s last ‘surprise’ had been the Mousetraps game and he still lamented the little ‘piggy’ that didn’t know it was home because he could never feel it. Of course, he couldn’t feel his little toe before either, but that wasn’t the point!
The warm up comic was now taking his bow to cheers and he felt himself smile as he heard the crowd chant his name along with his partner’s and felt the overwhelming need to thank someone, anyone, for his amazing luck. Ever since the first day he had gotten on stage and heard the applause and laughter of the audience, he had decided that this was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. It hadn’t been easy, giving up his stable possible career as a marine biologist, but he had done it and had suffered for it as well, living in a state of near homelessness. He had to admit, in private, that he might have very well considered giving up and taking a crappy menial job for a few bucks, if it hadn’t been for that one man who gave him his break. His best friend....
Colin shook his head, feeling tears prick the corners of his eyes, a stark contrast to his earlier mood and put on the stage mask he had perfected years earlier. Now was not the time to be thinking about him.....
“And now, ladies and you other guys! Please welcome that folically challenged Canuck; COLIN MOCHRIE!”
Colin started out of his daze at Brad’s announcement and walked out on stage with a broad grin, waving to the audience as they went wild at his appearance. It was show time.
“But, as you’ve seen posted on our flyers- which totally didn’t do us handsome studs justice- we have a special treat for you today!” Brad grinned as the audience tittered amongst themselves and also feeling Colin’s questioning glance on him. He was going to love this.
“Three years ago today, it was a sad day for us. And not just me and Colin, but for a lot of our friends and colleagues,” Brad said in conversational tone, pacing about the stage without giving anything away, “it was the cancellation of our metaphorical ‘baby’. The cancellation of ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’.”
He was bringing that up now?! Colin was utterly shocked at this remark. What had possessed Brad to think that it was a good time to bring up a memory that caused nothing but pain to both of them and on stage in front of millions of people?
“But today, it’s not going to be a day of sadness. It’s going to be a day of reminiscence. Today, we are going to pay a tribute to the show that is the reason we are standing here in front of all of you!”
He grinned at the loud burst of applause as the girls in particular went wild. He had had a feeling that the ‘Whosers’ would in particular have had that reaction to the announcement. He had seen the posts on various sites dedicated to the show and he still couldn’t figure out how they could have gotten cancelled with such a devoted fan following.
“But we can’t do it alone!” he spoke louder over the audience’s cheers, “The strength of Whose Line was the cast and for that purpose, today, we present to you the entire cast of ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’!”
Colin felt like his heart was speeding up and slowing down at the same time as he watched all his old friends stroll out onto the stage as if they had been doing it all their life. First came Drew, closely followed by Greg, Chip, Jeff, Wayne and even Laura Hall, all smiling broadly as they waved at the audience. However, there was still one person missing and Colin didn’t know if he wanted him to be there or not....
“We’re missing someone, do you know who it is?” Brad yelled into the mike as the cheers rose to a deafening level, “Got it right! Give it up for ‘Whose Line’ personified, RYAN STILES!!”
And there he was, looking as tanned and gorgeous as ever, if a bit older. Ryan never seemed to age much, still looking just the way he did in his late thirties as he did when nearing fifty. He smirked at the crowd, taking his place next to Greg and raising his hand in greeting, the audience going near crazy at the sight of all the legends. Brad turned to greet all of them with a hug and turned to Colin to gesture for him to join him, but Colin had eyes only for one person.
It had been years since they had last seen each other, a choice they had both made no matter how much they hadn’t wanted to. With Colin’s workload, there simply wasn’t time to visit or call him up, normally feeling too exhausted to do anything besides fall into bed and sleep. That’s what he told himself, though, despite knowing that they could have made it work if they had tried.
“Colin?”
Brad’s voice broke through his musings and Colin smiled brightly, moving forward to shake hands with all his friends, trying not to let his personal problems compromise the show. It was easy to say that repeatedly to himself, but when he reached Ryan, he felt his body stiffen up as Ryan moved in for a hug, but tried his best to make it seem like he was truly happy to see his supposed best friend. He heard the audience ‘Aww’ behind him and couldn’t help but smile for a second, feeling a twinge of memories at the audience in ‘Whose Line’ doing the same whenever they found their actions adorable. He and Ryan were the only ones to get those sounds at a regular basis.
They started the show and, like he had been expecting and dreading, he and Ryan were paired together for most of them. It was like old times, both of them completing each others’ sentences, following a shared idea and giving the audience a ‘will they, won’t they?’ vibe the entire time. He was proud to note that he hadn’t stuttered or blanked out even once, except for the one time that Ryan kissed him for the scene during a game of Sentences. At that point, he couldn’t have, for the life of him, decided what to say.
The show was a tremendous success and it came as no surprise to anyone. As they took their bows, Colin was reminded of the last episode of Whose Line.... there had been hugs, tears and even a few regrets, all wishing the show could have gone on forever. But Colin had known that the show would soon end one way or the other. Greg’s career in stand up was taking off, Wayne’s career had bloomed tremendously, Drew wanted to focus more on the Drew Carey Show and Ryan....it was obvious to anyone who was watching that Ryan was nearing complete burn out. Colin knew for a fact, having overheard the words after a relaxing massage to Ryan’s now perennially aching back, that he had been planning to quit the show. He had paid his dues and made enough for a comfortable living, which was all he had ever wanted. Colin however.....
Colin scowled as he felt himself drifting off into memories again and mentally slapped himself back to focus. They were all backstage now, signing autographs, taking pictures and talking to each other, just like they used to. Colin ticked his eyes to a dark corner and, like he expected, Ryan was slumped against the wall, lighting a cigarette and looking like he didn’t give a damn about whatever was happening. Same old Ryan.
Almost as if hearing his thoughts, Ryan’s eyes ticked up to him and Colin felt his breath catch at the only time they had properly looked each other in the eye since their separation. Ryan’s gaze was calm and cold, just like it had been the last time he saw it. Colin would never forget the chills he had received on seeing those warm, loving eyes shut him out with enough force that he felt it like an actual physical blow. Before he knew it, he was walking over to Ryan and accepting a newly lit cigarette as he leaned next to him.
“So how’s the tour been going?” Ryan’s voice rumbled, sounding disinterested.
“It’s been good,” Colin responded, feeling uncomfortable at the awkward conversation. He couldn’t remember ever being this uncomfortable around Ryan before.
“The reunion was Brad’s idea,” Ryan continued, “Said he wanted us to have something like a last hurrah for the show.”
“I figured.”
The silence between them was highly uncomfortable and Colin could see Ryan’s leg bouncing slightly even in the dim light. Suddenly, he felt a flare of irritation at the distance between them. Even if they had broken up, that didn’t mean that they had to lose their entire friendship. He was tired of having to avoid his best friend because he was worried it would be awkward. If he couldn’t have Ryan as a lover, he could at least have him as a friend.
“Look, Ry-”
“I don’t want to talk about it, Colin.”
“Ryan, we have to talk about it someday,” Colin sighed, having expected that reaction.
“I just came here to do the show, that’s it. Nothing more, nothing less.”
“And now what? You’ll go back to Seattle?”
“I’m leaving tomorrow.”
“Ry-”
“No. Colin, just.....no.”
Colin sighed as Ryan pushed himself back up and walked away towards the side exit, no doubt hoping to avoid the fans. He watched that stiff walk and knew automatically that Ryan’s back must have started acting up and almost asked him if he needed a massage before catching himself. He no longer had the right to do that.
He spared another glance in his direction before joining the others in catering to the fans.

Colin rubbed his eyes tiredly as the elevator finally dinged and the doors slid open at his floor. It had been a long, yet enjoyable night and now he was ready to just hit the sack and sleep of the hang-over he was already feeling. He cursed the fact that he had decided to indulge in the drinking, but with the atmosphere that surrounded him, he just couldn’t resist.
It also gave him the time he needed to think. He had always hoped that the situation with Ryan would be resolvable but Ryan had shown him that he still wasn’t over what he perceived as Colin’s betrayal. Colin knew that the split was mostly his fault, but at least he had tried to make amends. Ryan’s biggest flaw was his tendency to hold a grudge until his dying day and he never forgot when someone crossed him. Colin remembered Greg telling him once about a prank he played on Ryan during their first taping together and that Ryan had reciprocated the exact prank ten years later with every minute detail.
Colin sighed as he opened his hotel room door and stepped inside, not bothering to turn on the lights before he allowed himself to fall onto the bed and closed his eyes. All he wanted now was to go to sleep and forget about what had just happened, preferring to think it over tomorrow when his mind was fresh and relaxed. He had dozing for what felt like a minute before he heard the bell ring and groaned, hoping whoever was there would just go away. When the bell ringing became insistent, he got up with a grumble and jerked open the door, nearly falling over as someone fell heavily against him.
“Ryan?” Colin blinked in the limited light coming from the hall at the long body leaning on him, arms wrapped around his neck. Feeling concern build up when Ryan didn’t respond, he shut the door and turned on the lights, “Are you alright?”
“Never better,” Ryan slurred with a giggle, looking up at him with a drunken smile.
“Oh no,” he was so not in the mood for this.
“Oh yes!” Ryan pushed himself back up but he nearly toppled over if it hadn’t been for Colin catching hold of him.
“Why did you get so drunk?” Colin grumbled, ushering him over to the only seat in the room.
“I dunno!” Ryan squinted in thought, “I fuhgot....”
“Great....” Colin sighed, “which is your room?”
“Dunno!” that seemed to be Ryan’s word of the day, “couldn’t find it so I came here!”
Colin bit his lips in thought. His first thought was to let Ryan crash here, but he doubted the other man would want to see him the next day, especially after what had happened today. Ryan made the choice for him by lying down on the couch and snuggling into a cushion, letting out a contented purr.
“Fine, you can stay here tonight,” Colin assented, “but you take the bed and let me take the couch. Your back can’t take a night on this.”
“Nuh-uh,” Ryan shook his head vehemently, “Your bed. You sleep.”
“Ryan, be reasonable-”
“Can we share?”
Colin’s words caught in his throat at Ryan’s seemingly innocent question. Another time, he would have jumped at the opportunity, but now....no, Ryan wouldn’t want that and he’d definitely regret it. There was no way they were going to share a bed.
“We used to before,” Ryan pointed out, taking Colin’s silence as hesitation. Dimly, he had the thought that the sharing might be a bad idea but he couldn’t remember why and the doubts were washing away in a sea of alcohol induced ignorance.
“Ry, w-we used to share the bed for a different reason then,” Colin stammered.
“Well, we can share again,” Ryan said matter-of-factly and got up, grabbing Colin’s hand and dragging him towards the bedroom.
“Ryan-” Colin tried to stall but Ryan let himself fall back on the bed, giving Colin’s hand a sharp pull and causing him to sprawl next to him.
“See? We can share,” Ryan let out a small yawn and turned onto his stomach, resting his head on his forearm. Colin sighed and resigned himself to waiting for Ryan to fall asleep before getting up. No doubt if he tried to do while he was awake, Ryan would wonder what was the matter and pester him until he returned. There was no sound except for the occasional titter in the hallway and their breathing, synchronized without even trying. It gave Colin a reminder of falling asleep while listening to his lover breathe along with him as they came down from a glorious session of love-making. It was a painful memory because now, all he could think was that instead of being greeted by a loving kiss in the morning, he would be on the receiving end of Ryan’s hung-over wrath and another hateful glance right before he left.
He was broken out of his thoughts by a gentle hand sliding onto his chest and then a pair of warm lips brushing his cheek. Colin wondered for a second if he was dreaming, but that was quickly shot out of his head when another hand drifted down to caress the front of his pants, coaxing a tentative erection out of nothing. He grabbed onto that hand quickly and pulled away to look into Ryan’s fogged eyes, looking very confused that Colin had stopped him.
“What are you doing?” Colin asked.
“I’m trying to make you feel good,” Ryan responded with a pout, not happy that Colin had stopped him, “Wasn’t it nice?”
“No, Ryan-”
“It wasn’t nice?”
“No! It was very nice, I mean....” Colin sighed as Ryan’s bottom lip wibbled and he looked like he was about to start bawling. Once of the things he loved and hated about Ryan’s tendency to drink was that he tended to lose whatever control he had over his emotions. He loved it because it was the only time that Ryan would show how warm and loving he was and the best time to find out what was bothering him. He hated it for the same reason. Ryan had been drunk when he had yelled at Colin after another missed dinner date due to work commitments. He had been drunk when he shouted that Colin no longer loved him, that he cared more about his work than he did about him. But what hurt most was that he hadn’t been drunk when he declared their relationship over and moved out in the same night, saying that he could no longer wait for him. That had been the last time he had seen Ryan, the last time he heard his voice....and the last time he had heard him say ‘I love you’.
“You don’t want me?” Ryan asked, looking very hurt.
“No, I do want you, but....you’re drunk. You’ll regret this, Ry, I know it.”
“God dammit, stop assuming you always know what I will or will not feel!” Ryan flared with sudden anger, “You don’t know me anymore, Colin, but I know myself!”
Colin blinked at the most coherent response he had gotten from Ryan since he had entered his room, “I’m sor-”
Ryan growled and moved forward with surprising agility and pinned Colin down, straddling him and staring at him like a tiger with his prey. Colin swallowed as he felt Ryan’s erection press against his stomach, but couldn’t allow himself to let this happen. Ryan wouldn’t want this in his right mind and the last thing Colin wanted was to add the fact that he had had sex with him while he was drunk to Ryan’s already considerable list of ‘Reasons to hate Colin’.
“Ryan....” Colin groaned as he pressed down against him and moved his hips in a way that threatened to throw all his good intentions out of the window.
“Shh....” Ryan whispered, nuzzling his jaw lightly, “Just let me take care of you. Please.”
“Do you want this?”
“Yes....so much.”
“Are you sure?” Colin knew he was giving in, but it had been far too long and with Ryan’s voice getting steadier with each passing second, it was getting harder and harder to remember the fact that he was inebriated.
Ryan decided that there was too much talking and showed how open he was to the idea by bringing his lips to Colin’s in a fierce kiss. Colin moaned as Ryan’s taste flooded his mouth and he wrapped his arms around the achingly familiar body, feeling himself be pressed down against the mattress with a 6’6’’ blanket draped over him. Ryan’s tongue tangled with his and he tasted of scotch and smoke and of something so sweet and familiar, Colin could only describe it as home. He felt long fingers unbutton his shirt and then they were stroking his chest in a long, leisurely motions that were stealing his remaining thoughts. There was a small flash of concern in his mind, the thought that Ryan was drunk and probably didn’t know what he was doing, but when Ryan’s hand slipped into his pants, Colin shoved any and all thought to the back of his head, his own hands moving under Ryan’s shirt to splay across his back.
“Missed you so much,” Ryan murmured against his lips. Colin pulled at his waist until he was lying down flat on him and turned his attention to Ryan’s neck, nipping the soft skin until it was spotted with small red marks, easily hidden but never forgotten.
“Missed you too,” Colin responded, his hands coming to the forefront and unbuttoning Ryan’s shirt with a frenzy, running his hand down a smooth chest the moment it was off. Ryan let out a pleased sound and began stroking Colin’s erection through his pants until Colin was sure he would burst from the pressure.
“God, Ry....” Colin shuddered as Ryan’s hand gave his bulge a firm squeeze and heard a chuckle from above him. Two could play that game.
Using his natural strength and the element of surprise, Colin flipped them over until he was the one on top and Ryan was blinking at him in surprise before he gave him the sexiest smirk he had ever seen and ran his tongue against his upper lip in a blatant display of seduction. Colin was very bad at temptation, especially when that temptation was the man in front of him, and he groaned, kissing Ryan with a fervor, his hands slipping along his sides. Ryan’s hands in turn went to his belt buckle and before Colin knew it, his pants were somewhere around his ankles and a firm hand was wrapped around his erection. He cried out into Ryan’s mouth and then felt his other hand give his balls a firm squeeze that nearly made him come right then and there.
“Ry, slow down....won’t last,” Colin gasped out, but Ryan seemed perfectly happy to bring him off right now. He continued to pump Colin, occasionally alternating long, slow strokes with hard, fast ones until Colin groaned loudly and grabbed onto his wrist, pinning it down on the bed next to his head and Ryan smirked up at him.
“Am I too much for you?” Ryan drawled. Colin growled and tightened his grip on Ryan’s wrist, his other hand going down to unbutton his jeans and slide them down along with his boxers. Ryan kicked them off and attempted to arch up against Colin’s thigh, but the other man backed away and Ryan let out a frustrated whimper. Colin stopped for a moment, content to simply take in the body before him and commit it to memory, knowing he would never get the chance again. If he had known that the last time he and Ryan made love would be the last time, he would have taken the time to note all the small details. The way Ryan’s skin glowed in the dim light coming from the hotel window. The way every curve of their bodies fit together perfectly like pieces to a puzzle. The way Ryan groaned when he licked the roof of his mouth. How good it felt to have those graceful hands caressing whatever part of him they could reach. He would never take that for granted again.
“Col, you’re killing me,” Ryan hissed as Colin’s hand brushed his thigh, but still ignored the place he needed him most.
“But what a way to go,” Colin smiled, continuing his light exploration. Deciding to take mercy on the whimpering man beneath him, he lightly caressed his erection, squeezing just enough to cause a reaction. Ryan groaned and reached down, grabbing Colin in his hand and pumping him hard and fast.
“God, Ry, slow down,” Colin grunted as Ryan tried to bring him off quickly, needing to distract himself, he slowed his hand on Ryan’s erection and leaned down to mouth the skin of his neck, sometimes soft and gently and sometimes harder, licking and biting. Ryan’s whimpers just increased his arousal and soon, he was covering Ryan’s hand and their stomachs with the proof of his pleasure. It took Colin a few minutes to recover from his release and Ryan was moving urgently under him, pressing against Colin’s hip for some sort of release.
“Hold still,” Colin husked, his voice low and rough as he kissed his way down Ryan’s body and took the man in his mouth. God, he had missed his taste. Ryan was already on the edge from before and it didn’t take long before he was shooting into Colin’s mouth with a hoarse yell, sagging back onto the bed and falling asleep almost instantly. Colin smiled and kissed his lover’s slumbering lips, soft and giving in sleep, before joining him in the land of dreams.

Colin woke up to the sound of retching coming from the bathroom and noticed that Ryan was no longer in bed. Hissing in sympathy, he got up and grabbed one of the hand towels that house keeping had left outside and entered the bathroom, wincing as Ryan threw up once again. Wetting the towel in the cool water, he rubbed Ryan’s back as the other man dry heaved before pulling him back gently and wiping his face with the cool towel. Ryan whimpered as the motion made his head hurt, but the coolness made him feel much better, especially when Colin placed the towel over his eyes. Helping him back to the bed, Colin retrieved a couple of aspirin and a glass of water, handing it to Ryan before making a cup of coffee.
“How are you feeling now?” he asked as Ryan downed the pills and water.
“Like a truck ran over me,” Ryan groaned.
“With the amount of alcohol you must have consumed, I’m not surprised,” Colin chuckled, getting up as the coffee maker pinged and pouring out a cup of caffeine goodness that he handed to Ryan.
“Thanks,” Ryan responded automatically, taking a sip, “But I’m rather happy I got drunk.”
That was said with a wink in Colin’s direction and other man simply smiled and sat down next to him. Ryan let one arm rest around his shoulders and placed a warm kiss on his temple. It never ceased to amaze Colin how quickly they would fall back to old patterns and he could have sworn that they had never broken up in the first place. He knew there were still lots of things that they had to talk about, like his tendency to work the entire year and not spend any time at home or about Ryan’s tendency to not say what he wanted and expect someone else to just know it, but he knew that this time, they’d make it through those problems.
This time, they wouldn’t let each other go.
