Hey everyone. ^_^ Just popping in to say that I hope everyone's had a wonderful holiday season and to give a little run down on what's going on in the near future.

1. It's awards time again! That's right, the time is quickly arriving for the 4th annual wl_fanfiction awards! Nominations will start officially...probably around next Friday (the 8th), but unoffically we're starting as soon as the ball drops on New Years Eve! I'm currently compiling the list of eligible stories for the 2009 awards. I'm a good chunk of the way in, but I don't expect to be finished until around Sunday, so stay tuned for that. Use the time between now and the official start of nominations to catch up on that fiction! There have been a lot of damn good stories posted this year, so let's give them the hurrah they deserve!

And speaking of the awards, I want to run the current list of categories by everyone and get some feedback. Do we like them all? Should we take any out? Add anything we may be neglecting? Take a look under the cut for the current awards (which can also be used as a guide while you're reading before official nominations begin) and let us know what you think!


Genres awards:

-Best H/C, or the "lightning rod of hate" Award (Please nominate a fic or series that features hurt/comfort)
-Best Romance (Please nominate a fic or series that features romance)
-Best First Time (Please nominate a specific first time from a fic or series)
-Best Established relationship, or the "I know your lips" Award (Please nominate a fic or series that features an established relationship)
-Best Angst (Please nominate a fic or series that features angst)
-Best Humor, or the "Tapioca" Award (Please nominate a fic or series that is very humorous)
-Best Friendship or group-fic, or the "Hoedown" Award (Please nominate a fic or series that focuses on the friendship or group)
-Best Het (Please nominate a fic or series that features a heterosexual pairing)

Characterization awards:

-Best portrayal of Colin, or the "Captain Hair" Award (Please nominate a fic or series that focuses on Colin)
-Best portrayal of Ryan, or the "Neon Love Chicken" Award (Please nominate a fic or series that focuses on Ryan)
-Best portrayal of Greg, or the "Richard Nixon" Award (Please nominate a fic or series that focuses on Greg)
-Best portrayal of Jeff, or the "Christopher Walken" Award (Please nominate a fic or series that focuses on Jeff)
-Best portrayal of a Whose Line female player, or the "Have you ever seen these?" Award (Please nominate a fic or series that focuses on a female WL character)
-Best portrayal of a Britline player, or the "Getting Past the Little Teapots" Award (Please nominate a fic or series that focuses on a Britline character)
-Best portrayal of... (for any other character) (Please nominate a fic or series that focuses on any other Whose Line character)
-Best use of wives, or the "it's nothing permanent" Award (Please nominate a fic or series that uses the wives in a special or supporting way)
-Best use of an OC, or the "Richard Simmons" Award (Please nominate a specific non-Whose Line character from a fic or series)

Best specifics:

-Best Kiss, or the "Maltese Burger" Award (Please nominate a specific kiss from a fic or series)
-Best Sex-scene, or the "a couple of nails and a good screw" Award (Please nominate a specific sex-scene from a fic or series)
-Best Threesome (Please nominate a fic or series that features a threesome)

The special awards:

-Best holiday themed story, or the "Porking Mrs. Claus" Award (Please nominate a fic or series that features a holiday)
-Best new author, or the "Riverdancing In A Thong" Award (Please nominate an author new to the fandom this past year)

And finally, the biggest honor:

-Best story overall (Please nominate the fic or series you thought was the very best)


2. January will also be feedback month! That's right! Feedback month is back! We figured that as long as everyone's going to be doing lots of reading anyway, you may as well get something more out of it, right? ^_^ Sungreen will be running that, so look for a post from her in the coming days with more details.

3. And last, but certainly not least, April 20, 2010 marks the 5th anniversary of wl_fanfiction! Woo! Five years! Never thought I'd still be here five years later, but I'm here, and still loving this fandom! ^_^ So let's celebrate in style! We still have a while to go before that, and I'm sure we'll run at least one more event in the mean time, but I wanted to let everyone know that it's coming, and I want to do something really special. I have a few ideas rattling around in my head, but I want to hear what YOU want. Is there an event you'd love to do, but it's never been offered? Is there something we've done in the past that you dearly miss? Throw your ideas at me, anything and everything! We wouldn't be here still if not for YOU guys, so how to you want to celebrate?

Love the awards given out and can't wait to see the nominees and who wins. Also got a laugh out of the little quotes in the award names Maltese burger and lightening rod of hate lol.
