Word Count: 2632

A/N: Just something I randomnly came up with on my way to college. Went for a drabble to a 2632 word fic. Yeow! WARNING: Bit of blood and biting as there is always in vampire fics.

“Another man was discovered today with puncture wounds in his neck. The police are convinced that these attacks are the same as the ones committed earlier except the attacker knocks out his victims, pierces them on the neck with a barbeque fork and then leaves them alive instead of killing them. There are no suspects till now but-”

Colin clutched the cushion close to him as he stared at the tv. Maybe it could be blamed on the fantasy books he had been reading since he was a child, but he was absolutely convinced that this was the work of vampires.

“It’s the only explanation,” he thought aloud but then frowned at the thought of telling Ryan what he knew. Ryan, being the bastard he was, would probably laugh and tell him he was being paranoid. Not that he could blame him. If he hadn’t been reading those books, he would have thought he was crazy too. The fact that the murders were only committed at night in alleys didn’t help at all.

He looked over at the book on the table in front of him and picked it up, flicking over to the page about vampire weaknesses. There was no harm in being prepared, was there?

Stop that, he scolded himself mentally, there are no such things as vampires. You’ve just been watching one too many movies at night and your imagination’s running wild!

“Come in,” he said distractedly as he heard a knock on the door of his hotel room.

Brad grinned as he entered Colin’s room, “Hey, Col, whatcha doing?”

“Nothing much,” Colin muttered, a little surprised that Brad had knocked and waited for an invitation. Normally, he would just barge in without so much as a knock.

Brad picked up the book and frowned at the title, “Vampires? Colin, aren’t you a little old to be reading this?”

Colin blushed and snatched the book back from him, “It’s a hobby.”

“Sure,” Brad grinned, “anyway, we’re all heading to the bar. Greg wants to show Clive a ‘good American time’ to which Clive responded with a ‘bad English time’, resulting in the fact that they got into another America versus England fight in the lobby. Ryan’s waiting for us there too. Said he didn’t want to miss when ‘the lovers finally bridge the gap between continents’.”

Colin grinned back, “What do you think he’ll say if we tell him England’s not a continent?”

“Fuck off?” Brad asked innocently and then burst out laughing.

“Probably,” Colin chuckled as well, “now let’s go and save Ryan’s sanity. Or whatever’s left of it.” He headed out towards the lobby.

Brad looked at the book with an unreadable expression for a while and then turned and exited the room as well.

“Bloody hell, another murder,” Clive muttered as he looked at the small TV in the bar, “and I’m sure the murderer is American.”

“Oh please! If he were American, no way he’d go for your prissy boys,” Greg retorted, “they like a challenge and you guys are no challenge.”

“I’m sure he’s American.”

“No he’s not!”

“Actually, I’d have to say he is,” Ryan interrupted absently.

“Why would you say that?” Colin asked with disguised suspicion.

Ryan shrugged, “Unless Brits barbeque their shepherd’s pie or whatever, he’s American. The guy uses a barbeque fork, remember? I’m not even sure you get that here. I could be wrong though.”

“Right,” Colin said slowly. Ryan had sounded incredibly confident when he made that statement, but that confidence faded as he explained and Colin could tell that he was lying. He also didn’t miss the quick glance Ryan and Brad shared.

“Maybe they’re vampires,” he said in a forced casual voice, his eyes never leaving Ryan and Brad.

Brad grinned, “And they like bland British blood! But nothing like good old American!” he growled playfully and ‘attacked’ Ryan who was closest to him.

Ryan laughed and playfully fended off Brad, “Save me Colin!” he cried in a dramatic falsetto voice as he pretended to swoon.

Colin tried to suppress the involuntary grin that rose to his lips and failed. Watching those two play around never failed to bring a smile to his lips. They were so carefree that it sometimes made him wish that he could be the same.

“Better stop that before someone throws you out,” Clive said mildly. Ryan and Brad froze instantly in an odd position like they were in Freeze Tag with Brad pulling Ryan’s shirt collar down and his mouth open to ‘bite’ him and Ryan having a mock horrified expression on his face with his hands on Brad’s chest to push him away.

“Aw,” Brad pouted, shifting away from Ryan, “Just when I was about to get a good meal....”

Ryan made a face at him, “You keep your teeth away from me.”

Brad flashed him a shark-like grin and for a split second, Colin thought that he spotted Brad’s canines looking a little longer than normal as he looked at Ryan but when Brad turned to him, they looked normal again.

You’ve got to stop reading those books, Colin scolded himself furiously, now you’re thinking that Brad’s a vampire!

“Colin?” Ryan’s worried voice broke through his thoughts and he looked up to see everyone staring at him.

“I’m sorry, I zoned out. You were saying?” Colin answered politely with a smile.

“I’m heading off, you want to come with me?” Ryan repeated.

“Hm, I don’t think I’m ready to pack it in,” he responded.

“I’ll go with!” Brad answered, almost leaping to his feet and following him out the door.

Colin frowned. Brad never left a bar before he had to and now he was leaving just because Ryan was? Something’s going on between those two, Colin thought.

“On second thought, I’ll pack it in early too,” Colin got up after the two of them left and exited quietly, hoping to catch up with them. After a couple of minutes, he heard voices in one of the dark alleys and froze, barely out of sight of the people inside it.

“Brad, you really need to be careful!” he heard Ryan’s voice hiss, “Someone will see us!”

“I don’t care,” Brad growled, “I’m sick of having to keep this a secret!”

“Brad, think rationally for a second!” Ryan snapped, “if the others find out about us, they’ll kill us!”

“Well, too bad, we’re not like them,” Brad retorted, “So we’re different! I told you that when you got involved with me, this would happen.”

Ryan’s voice let out a sigh and Colin strained to hear what he was saying, “Brad, people are already talking. Last thing we need to do is fuel the rumors. We need to be more careful!”

Brad let out a sigh as well, “Fine, but soon we’re going to tell them and I don’t care what they say.”

Colin headed back the way he came back so as to make sure Ryan and Brad didn’t see him as they left the alley. His mind was reeling from what he had over heard.

What could they be talking about? Could they....nah, that’s foolish like they said. But....maybe that’s why they said that to throw us off? Why else would they be acting so suspicious? Maybe they’re actually vampires? No, that’s stupid.....but there’s no harm in checking is there?

Colin headed back to his apartment and immediately opened his book, looking for ways to identify vampires. He skimmed over the book, mentally discarding the ideas that couldn’t work.

Okay, can’t do the staking thing, that would kill anyone. Sunlight, there’s barely any in England. Plenty of crosses though....but I’ll look like a fool if I’m wrong.

Colin’s eyes then fell on a small passage. Vampires had fang marks on their neck since they were made when another vampire fed on human and then fed them some of their blood. Older vampires didn’t have the marks as they healed over years, but relatively newer ones still had the marks. He had known Ryan as a kid so he knew that if Ryan were a vampire, his marks would not yet have healed.

Great, so I have to see his neck, Colin thought, that’ll be easy. Just walk up to him and say, “Hey Ry! I think you’re a vampire! Can I see your neck?” That probably won’t work....but I think one of our games tomorrow can give me the opportunity. If it can give Rory the chance to kiss me and Greg the chance to nearly bite Ryan, it can give me the chance to check his neck.

Colin spent the rest of next day’s taping trying to come up with excuses to check Ryan’s neck. He was granted with the opportunity when they played helping hands, but Ryan always wore a collared shirt which covered up most of his neck. By the end of the taping, the last of the season, Colin was nearly in tears from the frustration and stomped out of the studio, scowling as he made his way to his car after the taping.

“Colin!” Brad called out, running after him.

“What?” Colin cut himself off sharply as Brad ran into the sunlight and suddenly felt a wave of foolishness crash on him when the comedian didn’t burn or even look uncomfortable.

“Are you okay? You were acting weird throughout the taping,” Brad sounded concerned.

“Yeah, I....just had a rough night,” Colin smiled slightly, “I’ll tell you about it later, okay?”

Brad nodded, “Alright then. Ryan’s changing up, you planning on waiting for him?”

Colin shook his head, “Nah, I really need to get some rest.”

“I’ll give him a lift then. Bye Col!” Brad ran off, leaving a relieved Colin behind.

The Canadian frowned as he watched his friend run off, Wait, if they’re not vampires, what were they talking about in the alley earlier? I think I really do need to have a talk with Brad....

After taking a refreshing lunch and nap, Colin made his way over to Brad’s hotel room, fully intent on finding out his and Ryan’s secret. It was only seven in the evening anyway and maybe they could go out for drinks after the conversation.

“Brad?” Colin knocked on his door and for a second thought he heard a yelp, a whine and few muffled curses before a slightly ruffled Brad showed up at the door a couple minutes later.

“Am I interrupting something?” Colin asked.

“Uh, not really,” Brad hesitated before gesturing Colin in, “what’s up man?”

“I really need to apologize for earlier,” Colin said immediately, sensing Brad was busy with something or someone if the noise from the bedroom was anything to go by, “I thought you should know why I was acting odd.”

“What was wrong?” Brad asked, sitting down.

“I thought you were a vampire,” Colin blurted out, blushing.

Brad looked shocked for a second then, grinned falsily, “Why?”

“I heard you and Ryan talking in an alley yesterday. I read a lot about vampires and with that chain of murders in the city, I thought you two were the vampires,” Colin rushed out.

“Well, we’re not vamps, Colin,” Brad grinned, pointing at his canines, “Vamps have fangs, an aversion to garlic, sunlight and crosses and are thirsty for blood. I’m thirsty for water.”

“Sorry, Brad, I really mean it.”

“It’s okay,” Brad clapped his friend on his shoulder, ticking his eyes towards his bedroom door.

Colin saw his gaze move and laughed, “I’ll leave you to what you were doing. But can you tell me what you guys were talking about in the alley?”

Brad’s eyes flashed with panic for a second, before he frowned, “Ryan and I smoked marijuana.”

Colin’s jaw dropped, “What?! Do you have any idea how bad that is?”

“We only did it once,” Brad protested meekly, “but no more. We learnt our lesson. We were afraid of how you’d take it....”

Colin sighed, “As long as it’s once, I’ll let it pass. But don’t either of you ever do that again, you hear?”

“Yes Colin. Bye!” Brad waved as he shut the door behind he departing friend. He let out a sigh of relief before letting a wicked smirk cross his lips as he strode over to his bedroom, opening the door and taking in the sight before him.

“That was a good idea not to bite each other during the taping season,” Brad commented as he sauntered over to the bed where Ryan was lying on his side under the sheets, a seductive look on his face as he smirked at Brad, “Colin would have been on to us otherwise.”

Ryan laughed, “I warned you that he reads too much about vampires. Should have been more careful when we talked in the alley. Nice save with marijuana thing though.”

Brad growled softly as he slipped under the sheets and rolled on top of Ryan, his hands to either side of his head. He paused for a moment to take in the sight before him, of Ryan’s blonde hair spread across the pillow, his lips looking kiss swollen from the activities of before, the sexy look he had in his eyes and the moonlight coming in from the open window splaying across his skin, “Well, if you hadn’t looked so edible,” he lowered his head to place a long kiss on Ryan’s lips, “I wouldn’t have lost control. And that was the only thing I could think of.”

Ryan moaned as Brad nipped at his neck, “Well, at least now we’ve put his vampire ideas to rest. Thought I still think we need to be more careful.”

Brad pulled back and grinned, “Now where’s the fun in that? I like making him paranoid.”

Ryan rolled his eyes, “Thankfully, his books haven’t been updated in a while so he doesn’t know that half that crap doesn’t affect us. But if he gets paranoid again, you’ll never get the chance to bite me again. He’ll keep looking and we’ll keep getting interrupted.”

Brad grinned and then turned serious for a second, “God, I’ve missed doing that.”

Ryan grinned, his canines elongating as he saw Brad’s do the same, “Then how about we have a bite here before we hunt? We have time.”

Brad licked at his pulse point, “Marvelous idea,” he bit down sharply on Ryan’s neck, his pulse pounding as Ryan let out a sharp cry before doing the same.

“You taste so good,” Ryan whispered against his skin. Brad responded by slipping once of his hands down Ryan’s chest to rub at his nipples, shuddering at the moan he felt at his neck.

Ryan pulled away after a short while, sinking back into the bed, one hand splayed on Brad’s shoulder, the other gently grasping the back of his neck, “I love you,” he said softly.

Brad leaned down and placed a soft kiss on Ryan’s lips, “I love you too.”

Ryan smiled and then looked out of the window, “Think it’s time for another hunt?”

Brad nodded, “Yeah, your way is much better. I hated killing those people earlier.”

Ryan stroked his face, “And that’s why you needed me so much.”

Brad nodded, “You have no idea how much I needed you. How much I need you. It was so hard earlier, so lonely. You were human and I was a monster....I turned you into a monster.”

“Ssh,” Ryan hushed him gently, placing a finger on his lips, “You never asked for that to happen Brad and remember I asked you to turn me into a vampire. You aren’t a monster, I love you and I’ll do anything for you. You’re not alone, love. Not anymore.”

The two lovers got out of bed and changed, heading out into the night on another hunt.
