First of all Hi everyone this is my first post. I have read a lot of fanfics on here, and have loved all of them so far. You've in fact all inspired me to write my own fic, with some pairings I haven't seen on here yet. Hope you enjoy it.
Title: The Weakness Within
Chapter: 1
Pairing: Greg/Josie and Josie/Ryan
Rating: 12 (due to mild language)
Words: 867
Summary: Josie is torn between Greg and Ryan, but cannot face the guilt of dating both of them any longer.
Disclaimer: I own nothing, except the story. This did not happen, as it is purely a fanfic. It is not intended to slander the people it dipicts.
Authors Notes: My first ever fanfic, so hope that you like it. I got the title and inspiration from one of my favourite songs, "The Weakness In Me" by Joan Armatrading.
Josie Lawrence rolled over, clammy and sweating as she had done so frequently in the past few weeks. Her dreams had become a torture without fail every evening. Flashes of her betrayal ending in tears. Being left completely on her own. These images combined with guilt tormented her, grating away from within her own heart and soul. How had she let this happen?
“This needs to be sorted now” she told her reflection “I can’t take any more”. She had sat up and was now peering into her dressing table mirror. “I look like shit” she sneered at herself, repulsed by her gaunt and sleep deprived features. Dark circles encased her eyes. She crawled out of her warm bed, no longer able to seek solace in its depths, able to shut her eyes without her nightmares agonising her, forcing her to toss and turn.
Josie slipped on the bra she had discarded on the floor, only a few hours previously, tugged on a pair of old jeans, a t-shirt and trainers. It was 3am, so she decided it best to wrap up in a coat as well. She pulled her favourite trench coat around her doing up the buttons and fastening the belt.
She clicked her front door closed and made her way through the puddle-ridden pavements barely noticing as the water soaked the bottom of her jeans so that they slapped her ankles in the wind. She was too distracted by her own guilt and worry.
Josie did not deserve this self-torture, although it plagues anyone with half a conscience. The reason for this self-deprecating feeling engulfing her was that she had fallen in love. Twice. The worst thing about it was, they were fellow improvisers, colleagues on the recent television hit “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” She had met Greg Proops first, but barely a few weeks later Ryan Stiles also won her heart.
Josie had always been secretive about her love life, although her close friends new that her previous few boyfriends had hardly been saints, her very last had even abused her, giving her bruises long gone, but emotional wounds, only just beginning to heal. That was until she had met Greg.
She had now reached Hyde Park. It was only 20 yards from her London flat and had always been her place to think. It had been here she had built up the strength to finally confront her last boyfriend and eradicate him from her life. It was here she headed now to sort her head out once and for all.
Her head had been pounding with unreleased worries for weeks now, panic stricken thoughts of the day that the two improvisers would work together with her on the same show. So far she had been lucky either working with Ryan or with Greg. She knew it couldn’t last, Dan Patterson the producer was a clever and efficient man, and it wouldn’t be long before he realised that pure magic could only come from putting these two improvising geniuses together. For Josie, this would realise dark fears that they would find out about each other.
She gazed into the pond hating herself more with every moment. She wasn’t this type of person. Josie wasn’t vindictive and cruel, the kind to fall in and out of love at free will. The fact was, Josie was damaged and lonely, and had long since forgotten tenderness and respect.
That was only the tip of her worries however, Ryan was a married man, but he lusted after her as much as she did him. The affair made her feel sick, she hated Ryan as much as she loved him. He grabbed her attention with such astonishing force, from just a glance. Knew how to win her affection imposing himself upon her causing her heartstrings to pull even at the most inappropriate moments. She felt dirty sometimes at what she was doing with him behind his wife’s back, yet it felt so right. And Greg…
Greg had surprised her the most. Yanks, Josie had always thought were stupid, overweight and had no decorum or any idea how to treat a lady. How wrong she was. It was Greg who had turned her opinion of American’s around completely, with Ryan confirming Greg was not just an exception to the rule.
Greg had shown her affection, which spellbound her after months of an abusive boyfriend. Yet here she was abusing and humiliating him without him realising it. Greg was oblivious to the fact she was seeing Ryan at the same time. How could she be doing this? He had a heart of gold and trusted her. Tears of loathing at her own reflection trickled down from her eyes sliding off of her nose due to her slightly bowed head.
Josie did not know how long she sat there silently weeping at the mess she had gotten into. She needed a friend, moreover a friend who knew both men but would have the decency to keep quiet, and trust in her to finally let one of the two dangling men drop. Josie stood up and headed to her last chance of sorting out this madness she had become trapped in.
Well, that was the first chapter, all comments are most welcome, good or bad.
