Title: Alone
Pairing: Colin/Ryan
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Colin finds himself wishing Ryan was with him.
The man lay on his bed. His heart was thudding. It felt like it was about to pop out of his chest. The brown eyes were onfocused, the little hair he had left was tousled. He brushed it out of his eyes, irritated. He needed a haircut badly. He also needed his boyfriend.
The mere thought of Ryan in another country sent him into agony again. His heart felt like it was literally being ripped out of his chest. His body tightened even more, regardless of how sore and stiff he was. His breathing became even more ragged and then hitched. One hand smeared the tears across his face, but Colin didn't really notice. He hurt. And he wanted Ryan right now!
Colin's eyes found the phone. Without second thought he reached for it and dialed the number. He let it ring a long time before finally hanging up. He sighed heavily. Where was Ryan? He'd been trying to phone him all night, with no success.
He let his head drop onto the pillow and resumed staring out into space. He made a conscious effort to relax, since his jaw was getting sore from clenching it. He sighed again, and mentally berated himself for being a baby about the whole thing. Lots of couples were seperated by distance all the time. Heck, Ryan and Colin had done this so many times before, flying back to Toronto and Ryan would wait a week before joining him, so why was he being such a pussy about it this time? He really didn't know.
Still, it was painful. Colin made a vow that he would never allow either of them to do this again. Even if this time, Colin had insisted and had fallen deaf to Ryan's pleas for him to stay since Ryan's schedule wouldn't allow him free time for at least another two weeks.
Colin continued to stare blankly at the wall. His eyes were blurring so he closed them. And inadvertently fell asleep.
The next morning, Colin found the sun was in his eyes, birds chirping, and the lovely aroma of coffee being automatically brewed by the machine. He stretched out and tried to aleviate the sore muscles the fitful night had bestowed upon him. He covered his naked body with the blue housecoat Ryan had bought him the last time they had stayed in Toronto. Colin lowered his eyes, partly in sadness and and exhaustion, and padded his way into the kitchen. Pouring himself a cup of coffee, he grabbed yesterdays paper and sat down to read it.
Bringing the hot steaming mug to his lips, about to take a cautious sip as he always burned his tongue on any sort of hot beverage, he was quite startled to hear a loud knock at the door. Jumping up, he almost scalded himself on the spilled coffee. Cursing to himself, and to the knocker, he carefully set the mug down on the table. He stood up and stalked towards the door, as another more insistent knock was heard.
Colin rubbed his mostly bald head and continued to mutter to himself even as he opened the door. He abrubtly stopped, since before him stood smiling broadly, Ryan Stiles. Colin threw himself into his boyfriends arms and hugged him as tight as he could.
