So I spent my time at work today writing this little drabbley thing in response to the Greg's Glasses Biography challenge. Slow days at work do have their benefits. Thanks Makingamochrie for the idea! Sounds like it'll be fun. Here's my first effort.
Title: Polishing The Lenses
Author: Sun Green
Characters: Greg, implied R/C (well, in my mind. It could actually be anyone.)
Rating: G
Without his glasses, the world around him is blurred and out of focus. He can’t see the finer details or the subtle nuances.
He can’t see the exchange of looks that communicate more with a raised eyebrow or tilt of the head than hours of conversation.
He can’t see the casual touches that convey as much affection in their familiarity as a passionate embrace.
He can’t see the private smiles that suggest better things to do when they leave here and head off together for some time alone.
He’d rather not see, so he lingers longer than necessary over polishing the lenses of his glasses, directing all of his concentration towards this simple task.
But without his glasses, his eyes are clearly visible to anyone who may care to look and notice the glint of tears.
He’d rather not be seen, so he puts his glasses back on.
