Morning!   Well, as I promised yesterday *g* today's kind of a boring part, just some conversation, no sex, but things really pick up from here!  It needed to be done since there was a couple questions left looming that I had to take care of before moving forward.  Ah well. *g*  I did like writing this part, even though it's boring and only has two characters in it (and Ryan isn't one of them).  There. That's about all the warning you're gonna get. *g*

TITLE:  When Darkness Falls
PART:  9/ who knows?
PAIRING:  Ryan/Colin (past)  None others right this second, but WAIT till tomorrow!!  He he.
RATING:  PG13 for discussion of sexual situations, maybe?  Heck, I dunno!
DISCLAIMER:  FICTION!  It's not fact, it's FICTION!  Don't own, don't sue, please.
SUMMARY:  Colin and Drew talk about things.  Oops!  I added a little bit at the end as a teaser for being so nice.  So...Greg enters.  *g*

When Colin awoke the next morning, it was to find Brad wrapped around him like an octopus.  While he ordinarily didn’t mind such a thing, this particular morning, he found it suffocating and he grunted as he tried to worm his way out of Brad’s tight hold.

Brad groaned and fluttered his eyes open, red and still glazed from the drinking he’d done the night before.  “Where you going?”

“Loosen your grip a little. I need to use the bathroom.”

“Stay a little longer. You’re keeping me warm.”

“We have blankets for that.  Come on, Brad, let go.”

“Man, somebody woke up on the wrong side of the crypt this morning.”

“Brad….”

With a sigh that treated Colin to the odor of stale alcohol, Brad removed his arms and legs and Colin gratefully slid from the bunk.  Each berth had a tiny, airplane-style can and sink, and he made use of both before returning to the berth proper.  Brad had already fallen back to sleep and was snoring loudly.  Sighing, Colin checked his watch.  It was still an hour too early for breakfast, but that was alright since he really wasn’t that hungry anyway.  The migraine had managed to filter away while he’d slept, but the events of the night before were as clear as ever, and his gut was roiling with the memories.

Pulling out some casual clothes—they weren’t playing tonight—he made his way out of the berth, over to the communal shower, and took care of his morning business, his thoughts over the hill and very far away.

The cars were empty and silent as he walked through them.  He returned the day porter’s welcoming smile before easing into one of the entertainment cars, ducking under the hanging television as he did so.  This car, like the others, was empty, and he took full advantage of the fact, choosing one of the couches and stretching his long frame along it, resting his head atop the padded armrest.  From there, he watched the world go by with idle eyes. Concentrating on nothing of import, he likewise let his thoughts take their own paths.

Several minutes later, Drew stumbled in, looking as if he’d been run over by a truck.  His clothes were rumpled and the circles under his eyes looked as if they’d been drawn there with grease pencil.

Colin moved to sit up, but Drew waved him back, and took the couch opposite.  “Stay man.  I could use someone to talk to, if you’re up for it.”

“Is it Ryan?  Did something…?”

“No. He’s fine.”  He snorted.  “Well, as fine as he can get, at any rate.  It’s…more…me.”

“What’s wrong?” Colin asked, immediately sitting up.  “What happened?  Is it about last night?”

Drew chuckled tiredly.  “I’d buzz you out for too many questions.  If I had a buzzer.”

“Drew…talk to me.”

“I will, man.  Just keep your pants on.  This is kind of hard for me.”

Relaxing against the back of the couch, Colin folded his hands in his lap and waited, one leg crossed over the other in a very familiar position.

The familiarity of the pose actually calmed Drew somewhat, and he felt himself relax for the first time in hours.  “Okay, it’s like this.  I went to talk to Ryan after you left last night, right?”

“Right,” Colin replied, the beginnings of his headache already coming back.

“Well, we talked.  It seems he misunderstood your reaction to his…little problem.”  Well, in Ryan’s case, it wasn’t so little, but best to leave that thought right the hell alone.

Colin nodded.  He’d figured as much, but couldn’t get through Ryan in the state he was in.  “Go on.”

“This is where it gets…kinda weird.”  His face flushed a deep red.  He stared down at his hands as if glued there.  The next words came out in a rush.  “I…um…jerked him off and let him go down on me.”

If he had had a hairline, Colin’s eyebrows would have risen to it.

“C’mon, man, say something,” Drew ground out.  “Tell me you’re pissed, or disgusted, or something!”

“I’m not either of those things, Drew.”

Drew finally looked up to find only compassion in those deep, dark eyes.  “Tell me.  Tell me why you’re not angry at me for what I did.”

Colin shook his head slowly, sadly.  “Drew, whatever was between Ryan and I, beyond friendship, has been over for three years.”  He shrugged.  “Probably before that, even, but we were both too stupid to realize it.”

“No,” Drew replied, shaking his head.  “That’s not true.  It can’t be true.”

“It is.  And we’re both to blame.  So, if you think you did something…wrong…by sharing that with him, well, that’s not true.  At least, not from my end.”

“I don’t understand.”

“I know you don’t.  I don’t think either of us do, either.  But…that’s not why you’re here, I don’t think.”

“No, you’re right.  At least, partly.  I really thought I’d fucked something up between you two.”

“Put that thought to rest, my friend.  It didn’t happen.”

Drew sagged in relief.  “Thank god.”

“So…what else was there?”

“This is kind of the harder part.  For me.  Personally.”

“I understand.  Please, go on.”

“You sound like my shrink, you know that?”

“I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be.  She helps sometimes, too.”  Drew ran a hand through his hair.  “Ok, it’s like this.  Aside from the things we did on the set, or in All-Stars, and, well, Eugene,” he quirked a grin, “did you ever think I was…well…gay?”

Colin thought for a second, then shook his head.  “Not really.  Fun is fun, but I never thought you were serious about any of it.”  He smiled.  “Except that you do have nice lips.”

“So do you,” Drew replied, not stopping the grin that creased his tired features.  “But aside from that, there was no…inkling…or anything?”

“Not that I’m aware of, though I’m hardly an expert on these things.”

“But you’re….”

“I’ve been with women too, Drew.  And even if I hadn’t been, I don’t think there are any set rules on this sort of thing.  At least, none that I’m aware of.”

Drew slumped, eyeing his hands again.  “I just…wish I knew what came over me.  I mean, I started the thing, he didn’t.”

“And why did you start it?”  There was only honest curiosity in his tone.

“Damned if I know.”  He shook his head.  “Part of it was curiosity, I guess.  But more, it was more like…he needed something.  Some comfort or something, and that was the only way I knew how to give it to him.”  He sighed.  “Sometimes I wish I was more like you guys, all of you, more, I don’t know, physically intimate without it having to be about sex.”

“Drew,” Colin countered softly, “of all of us, I’m probably the least physically intimate person here.  I mean, sure, I’ll kiss, or hug, or grope or whatever, but that’s usually what I’m told to do.  Ryan’s the touchy one.  So are Wayne, and Jeff, and Brad, and, yes, you.  Me, I’m more reserved.  It’s just my nature.”

“Even in bed?”

Colin smiled.  “No, but that’s not what we’re talking about here, I don’t think.  Is it?”

“No. Not really.”  He looked up.  “So you don’t think I’m gay?”

“I think that only you can answer that question, my friend.”

“Thanks. That was a whole lot of help.”

“I’m serious, Drew.  I can’t know what’s in your head.  But let me ask you this:  when you look at a man, any man, do you find yourself thinking about having sex with him?”

Drew looked absolutely horrified.  “No!  Of course not!”

“Then I don’t think you have anything to worry about.”

“But…but I liked what he did to me!  I mean, I got off!”

“So?” Colin shrugged, completely unconcerned.  “Ryan is very good at giving pleasure, Drew.  That’s certainly nothing to be ashamed of.”

“But he’s a guy!”

“Yes, and you’re a guy, and you responded to sexual pleasure the way a man would respond.  Frankly, you could probably have an orgasm greasing a knot in a fence, but I doubt you’d be worrying that you’ve suddenly turned into a fencosexual, do you?”

That startled a laugh out of Drew, and he shook his head.  “You’re something else, you know that?”

“What that something is, no one’s ever been able to say,” Colin replied, shaking his head in mock-sadness.

Drew finally relaxed.  “Whew.  That shit was preying on my mind all night.  It’s not like I’m a homophobe or anything….”

Colin chuckled.  “If you were, my friend, I don’t think we’d be having this conversation, do you?”

“No, probably not.”

“Look, Drew, try to put it out of your mind, ok?  You simply responded to the situation, that’s all.  It felt good, and you went along with it.  It doesn’t change who you are inside.  And if it does, somewhere down the line,” he shrugged, “so what?  Sex can be for a lot of different reasons.  You shouldn’t label yourself simply because you tried it once and liked it.”

“Yeah, you’re right, I guess.  Thank you, Colin.  You really helped me, man.”

“That’s what I’m here for.”

“No, man.  You’re not.  You’re as human as the rest of us, and I think that we forget that sometimes.  Don’t think I don’t know how many people come to you to have their problems solved.  It’s gotta be rough, man, keeping all that inside.  Especially when you have no one to go to with your own.”

“It’s really not that difficult,” Colin countered.  “And I do have people I can talk to, when I need to.”

“Who?” Drew snorted.  “Proops?”

“When you get past the sarcasm, he really is a caring person inside.  One of the most caring I know, actually. He’s helped me many a time.  He probably wouldn’t like me sharing that with you, but….”

“You can trust me, man.  I won’t say anything.”

“I know.”

“That thing with Brad, though.  You know he’s in love with you.”

Colin sighed.  “I know.  And I love him.  Just not the way he wants me to.”

“Any chance of it happening?”

“There’s always a chance, Drew, but there’s so much water over the bridge, you know?  I trust him with my life, but….”

“Not your heart.”

“I’m not really sure I have a heart left to give.  And that isn’t fair to Brad.  Greg, he’s just in it for the companionship.  I know he’s still got a thing for Ryan, and I try to encourage it, but Greg’s a loyal bastard, and I can’t seem to convince him that what happened happened because of both of us, not just Ryan.”  He chuckled.  “Actually, the sexual tension between them is starting to build so much that I just want to lock them in a room and have them go at it just to tone it down some.”

“Damn, I never even noticed.”  He shrugged.  “Not recently, anyway.”

“You wouldn’t.  Greg is still angry as hell at Ryan, but sometimes anger just makes things worse, or better as the case may be.  Especially between those two.”

“This really is a soap opera.”

“Yeah.  I have to agree there.”

“Well,” Drew said checking his watch, “breakfast is about to be served.  Join me?”

“Thank you, but I think I’ll pass this morning.  I’ve got some things I need to think about.”

“Anything I can help with?”

Colin smiled.  “Thank you, Drew, but no.  This I have to do on my own.”

Drew nodded.  “I understand, but you know you have me whenever, right?”

“Right.”

Rising from the couch, Drew crossed the car and leaned down to give Colin a brief, hard hug.  “Thanks, man.  You really helped put things into perspective.  I thought I was gonna go nuts.”

“You’re very welcome, Drew.  Anytime.”

“You know the same goes in reverse, right?”

“I do.”

“Okay, then. I’ll leave you to it.”

“See you later.”

******

Some thirty minutes later, Colin hadn’t even had one thought unknot in his head, and he was beginning to get frustrated.  Frustration didn’t sit well with him, and he was just about to get up and walk around some when the door slid open again and Greg walked through wearing a most satisfied smirk.  “Thought I’d find you here,” he said, leaning down and giving Colin a purposefully sloppy kiss.

“You smell like Jeff.”

“You’d know,” he joked.  “He’s a damn good lay, that boy.”

Colin nodded as Greg sat down in the space vacated by his hips as he pushed back against the couch cushions.  Greg’s hand came up to smooth the fringe at Colin’s temples.  “So, why are you wallowing here instead of feasting with the rest of the pigs?”

“Thinking.”

“I figured.  You think too much, man.”

Colin shrugged.

Still holding his smirk, Greg deliberately trailed his fingers down Colin’s face, neck, chest, belly, and lower, gently cupping his groin.  “C’mon. I know what’ll get your mind off your mind.”

“Greg,” Colin sighed, feeling his body respond nonetheless, “you already had Jeff.”

”So?  I’m in the mood for some meat, and you’re my favorite kind.”

Colin rolled his eyes.  “No, Ryan is your favorite kind.”

“Hey, a guy can have two favorites, can’t he?  Besides, I swore off him for awhile, remember?”

“You don’t have to.”

“I know, man.  I just want to, okay?  Now get your ass movin’.”

He knew he could decline and Greg wouldn’t push.  Not him.  He might cajole a little, but he wouldn’t push too hard.

Sometimes, Colin had to be finessed, and that’s what made  him different from Ryan.  With Ryan, you wanted it, you got it, the end of it.  With Colin, you were never quite sure, and Greg found he liked the challenge.  He cupped Colin’s package a little harder, smirking at the response.  “I know you want this, man. You know you want this.  You fucking A know I want this.  So…let’s do it.  What have we got to lose but a little time?”

“What’s left of my mind, I’m sure.” Colin sighed, knowing Greg’s words for truth.  He wanted to stop thinking.  He wanted some sort of physical contact that would shut his thoughts off for awhile.  Brad would gladly help, but that would cause too many complications, and he didn’t want Brad right at this moment in time.  Who he really wanted he wouldn’t let himself name.  But Greg…he found himself wanting nearly as much.  “Ok.  I’m with you.”

Greg grinned.  “Let’s take this party to your place. My sheets need changing.”

Colin curled his lip in mock disgust. “You’re a pig.  You know that, right?”

"Fencosexual" - hahahaha

Liked the chapter. I'm glad you showed Drew in a state of confusion - very realistic. Waiting with fingers crossed for the next chapter!

My oh my! Greg is insatiable, isn't he? LOL

I liked both Drew's and Colin's voices throughout this. It wasn't useless. It explains Drew's state of mind (even though the state is still that of confusion *giggles*).

“We have blankets for that. Come on, Brad, let go.” -- *laughs* Oh, I feel him on this. I think I'd want to smack Brad.

The next words came out in a rush. “I…um…jerked him off and let him go down on me.” -- *laughs* Aw. ^_^ I really want Drew to get a happy ending in this.

“Actually, the sexual tension between them is starting to build so much that I just want to lock them in a room and have them go at it just to tone it down some.”</I. -- Yes, Colin, follow your intuition.... ^_~ I must reiterate again my love of your Greg. And the bond shared by him and Colin as well.

Hm... LJ cut off half of my response... That's weird. Anyway, to attempt to rectify that, what I had said in response to that last quoted bit was "Yes, Colin, go with your intuition." ^_~

Also reiterating my love for your Greg and especially for the Greg/Colin interaction. I think their relationship in this story is my favorite thus far.

Just not in the same pairing. -- *laughs* yeah, you were confusing me there until I got to that point. I am very looking forward to this next chapter. ^_^ And I don't have to leave the house until nearly noon, so I should actually get to read it in the morning.

Loved the conversation. Good chapter.

"And I hope that you'll like tomorrow's chapter as well, where he has a starring role. *g* Keep your seatbelts fastened for Captain Proops, airline pilot! He really knows how to bring it in for a landing, if you know what I mean. *weg*"

CAN'T WAIT! CAN'T WAIT!!!!

I am convinced Colin would be a good councellor, for the WL cast. ('cept for Ryan. Too much history there.)
