Summary: When a slap on the back means so much more.
Author’s Notes A late birthday present for Zekkass.
Wayne’s always been a very open man. He likes to show his emotions in his expressions as well as his actions. However the guys don’t seem to like that too much. They’re not afraid to touch each other in any way, just look at Ryan and Colin, but they seem to be scared of the meaning of those touches. They’re only scared if it’s an actual show of affection or friendship, if it’s for a laugh they more than throw themselves at it. Even the audience members seem to be uncomfortable when he tries to give ‘em a quick squeeze. The only one who seems to be comfortable enough with themselves to be comfortable with him is Brad. If Wayne throws a friendly arm over his shoulders, Brad’s is right there around his waist, if Wayne moves in for a half hug after a particularly funny song, Brad’ll embrace him back. Sometimes he even starts the brief moments. Wayne had lost count of all the times Brad’s leaned on him while listening to Ryan and Colin during Greatest Hits, or brushed his arm against his while a waiting Drew’s instructions.
Wayne always thought it was just because they were friends and that everyone else was too closed for the kind of happiness that came with a secret touch, too burdened to enjoy a concealed laugh or a goofy wave. He thought it was just him playing around with the only one of his buddy’s to let himself be light-hearted, but then during a taping of Whose Line?, something happened. Brad kissed him. It was just a light peck on the cheek during their introductions, but it had managed to take Wayne completely by surprise and distract his mind the entire show. The affectionate little gesture left Wayne horribly confused. Did this mean there was something he wasn’t seeing? Or Was it just Brad being his flirtatious, fun self? He did know that secretly he wished the handsome man would kiss him like that for real, but wasn’t sure if he felt the same. This was something so new to him, not just being with another man, but this deep, walking on air, kind of feeling that he guessed was love.
All through the taping he had thought about that little kiss and he made a decision. As soon as the taping was over and they were piling backstage, Wayne turned to Brad and pulled him into another kiss, this one real. He felt Brad tense for only a moment before he responded with his sensual tongue and irresistible mouth. In the background there was silence from his co-stars, except Greg’s loud wolf-whistles. It was a risky move and it could have cost him a lot. He remembered how nervous he was, how walking to tap Brad on the shoulder seemed to take forever. He glances at the hotel bed behind him. The sheets and comforter are on the floor and there in the middle of the bed Brad is sprawled out on his stomach, in nothing but his bright-red boxers, a smile on his face as he dreams. Wayne goes to his lover’s side and kisses his cheek softly, like their first kiss, and wonders how on earth he could have been nervous about the lump of love and dork that is Brad Sherwood.
