~Chapter 5~
"Good dream?" Ryan asked, as he pulled the hand away that had been stroking Colin’s cheek almost lovingly.
Sudden panic came over Colin as he secretly checked for a tent in the sheets. Lucky for him there wasn’t one , but it still made him wonder why Ryan had asked.
"Why would you say that?" he asked, trying to sound like he didn’t just have a very erotic dream about the man in front of him.
"You were smiling."
"You were watching me sleep?"
Colin hadn’t meant to ask that, but it just slipped out.
"Yeah." Ryan answered sheepishly, a smile touching his lips.
The morning sunlight was backlighting Ryan, and he looked truly beautiful, almost angelic.
He got up from the edge of the bed as he said, "We gotta go help prepare the house, as my mother so daintily put it. Rich just got here, with the dogs."
Colin couldn’t help but smile with love for his friend when his face lit up at the last part of his sentence. Ryan was a sucker for animals, especially dogs. He remembered one time after a taping when they had been walking through a park to get to a nearby bar, a lady walking her tiny sandy colored dog crossed their path. "Can I pet him?" Ryan had asked, looking like a kid on Christmas morning. Ryan knelt and pet the dog, and in between bouts of baby talk, asked the owner question after question. What breed, its name, boy or girl, all the standard questions.
That who Ryan really was at heart, a caring, kind hearted man who would never cause intentional harm to any living creature. It showed through when he was around animals, as it was easier to show unbridled emotion around them instead of around people, dogs don’t judge.
"I’ll be down in a minute, Ry." With that Ryan left Colin alone in his childhood bedroom.
Well, that explains the barking sheep, but not much else, Colin thought as he hoped out of bed, eager to flaunt his "love affair" to the entire Stiles clan, despite his unnerving dream. Colin quickly dressed and happily jogged down the stairs.
"Miss me?" He pecked Ryan lightly on the cheek.
"Yeah, right." Ryan joked, barely registering the light peck on his cheek, "Here, help me move this."
Colin looked at the table on the ground, and picked it up. "Where are we moving it?"
"To the room next to the dining room."
"Does it even get a name?" Colin asked, falling into step behind Ryan.
"Not really. As a kid we never really called it anything, not that we ever used it either."
"Oh," Colin said plainly.
"Uh, do you think..." Ryan started, but stopped for some reason.
"Do I think what?"
"Nothing. It's stupid." Ryan averted his eyes.
"No it isn't. Now, what is it?" Colin chuckled at Ryan.
"Well, uh, I think we should kiss more in public. Like not just in the bedroom and stuff, but out here more. I think it would help our image." The younger man blushed.
"Well, sure, that sounds okay by me." Colin looked up, surprised to see the blush on his friend's face.
"I mean, it's just that we're a couple and that's what couples do." Ryan rambled on.
"Wait, what kind of kissing are we talking about?" Colin waged a war with his body. His heart wanted to admit something that his mind didn't.
"Well, everything I guess. I mean we're supposed to be like real lovers and everything."
Ryan blushed even more profoundly.
"Okay. Sure." Colin finally agreed.
Somewhere in the house a door slammed shut.
"Do you think we should do it now?" Colin asked, temporarily confusing Ryan.
"Oh. Yeah, sure. It would serve two purposes too, that way we don't have to tell Rich, and he can witness it on his own." Ryan said, making Colin chuckle.
He smiled and wrapped his arms around the younger man's waist. Ryan gently brought his lips against Colin's. If the older man was surprised to feel Ryan silently asking permission into his mouth, he didn't show it.
Their tongues were still entwined when a loud cry of, "Oh my God! I knew it!" came from the doorway.
Colin didn’t want to pull away from the amazing sensation, but Ryan did, so he was forced.
"Oh no. You caught us. What will we ever do?" Ryan asked in a monotone.
"Hey Rich, how are you?" Colin said, prying himself away from his friend’s side long enough to give Rich a quick hug.
"Aw, alright I guess. Rachel and I broke up." Rich answered, standing next to his brother.
Rich was closet to Ryan’s age, and they looked the most alike. They had the same subdued good looks and soft smile, the same sparkling eyes, both very attractive in an unexplainably charming way. Rich had a little more build to him though; the toned bulge of trained muscle showed through his tee-shirt, besides that the only other big difference was Ryan’s beauty mark just below the waistline.
Colin wondered if that really was a difference, maybe the two handsome brothers had that in common as well. It would be fun to find out. Colin had to mentally shake himself, so he could return to reality.
Rachel and Rich had been dating for a mere month, and it wasn’t surprising that they were already over. Rich could never seem to hold down a relationship. He was good looking enough to get any girl and genial enough to get through the early stages of dating, but whenever it started to get serious it would end.
It wasn’t because Rich was afraid of commitment. He had proposed to one of his girlfriends way back in his freshmen year of college, but they called it off about a week into the engagement. That, of course, was another standard of Rich’s relationships. They called it off. Every time Rich affairs ended, it would be completely mutual. He was still close friends with many of his exes, come to think of it; a lot of his friends were female.
"Sorry to hear that bro, what happened?" Ryan asked, trying for the sympathetic tone.
"I don’t know, we decided that we were better off as friends" That was an expected response. "Enough about me, what about you two? See what I miss when I go away?"
"What about us?" Ryan asked a little testily.
Colin had the feeling he was getting tired of the same question over and over, but he knew that Ryan preferred this treatment to the sympathetic post-divorce treatment he would have gotten otherwise.
"Well, when did it finally happen? You know, I e been waiting on this for so long, I swear at one point I was worse then some of those fans you have." Rich said, good-naturedly.
"Well, that kind of flattering, in a stalker kind of way.” Ryan drifted off, unconsciously squeezing Colin closer to him. Rich noticed this, and smiled slyly at the two men in front of him.
"Well, I should bring the dogs in, congratulations you two, you’re very lucky," Rich said, and Colin swore he heard Rich mumble, “and very brave.” as he left the room.
"I love Rich," Colin said, "he’s just so calm about everything."
"I always hated that as a kid." Ryan said dully, and Colin chuckled against his side. He always liked hearing about Ryan as a kid; he always wondered what it would have been like to have known him then.
Ryan thought that it felt good, to be holding Colin like this, even though no one was there to see it. He didn’t even stop to consider what this may mean to both of them; he just took the older man in his arms and kissed him gently.
Colin gave a start at first, but relaxed in Ryan arms quickly after. Ryan pulled back first, smiling down at the man in his arms.

Date: 2006-07-08 05:35 am (UTC)And I think it's adorable how you described Ryan as an animal person. 'Cause I'm the same way. I get all gooey around animals. :)
And love for the kiss at the end, of course! I find it amusing that both Colin and Ryan keep thinking how good, how right it feels to be holding each other... You'd think they'd get a clue already, wouldn't you? :)
This better not be another dream. *g*
