Title: Seventy Five Cents and A World of Uncertainty
Fandom: Whose Line is it Anyway?
Characters: Greg Proops. Ryan Stiles, Colin Mochrie
Prompt: 086. Choices
Word Count: 310
Rating: G
Summary: Greg wants a little snack, what will he choose?
Author’s Notes I hope you like metaphors, ‘cause this is one big one.
As Greg approaches the vending machine and puts in his three quarters he’s faced with a choice, a menial choice, but a choice none the less. He knows which of variety of snacks he doesn’t want. They all are no doubt satisfying, but they aren’t for him. The choice he has to make is between two things that are his favorite, for two very different reasons. He’s stuck between pressing B-1 and getting a bag of Milk-Duds and pressing B-2 and getting a bag of chocolate covered pretzels. They each have their perks. B-1 has the alluring sweetness that always reminds him of when he was a kid. They make him feel light-hearted and nostalgic. B-2 has the sweet thing going too, but it’s more hampered, the mix of flavors is unique, almost exotic, one has to acquire a taste for them. They both have disadvantages too.
The B-1's milk chocolate sugar-ness got cloying quite quickly and once it’s sticky caramel center was bitten into, or “tapped”, it stuck to your teeth and took a lot of work to get rid off. The pretzels are easier to get rid of, but they are so coarse. After awhile with them, chewing could get down right painful. Greg closes his eyes and presses a button at random. The machine clicks and stirs and a packet is dropped into the bin below. Greg stoops and retrieves his snack. He sighs as he reads the label. It’s neither of the two he was debating over. He failed to make a decision between two things he wanted and ended up with something he didn’t want. Oh well, he thinks as he throws the bag of Twiglets into the trash and returns to his seat between Colin and Ryan on the green room couch, he was never good at making choices.
~End~
*I also have a question that I thought would be easier to tack on here. Can someone tell me how to set up a table?*
