another one of those things . . .

I found another one of those starter fics that I've been working on through my winter break. It's not the best. But I hope it gives you some ideas. I was going for true identity/astrologicaly correct sort of thing. I like Chip's bits because he's a Virgo. It's hard to get Ryan's down but I tried. I read somewhere that if a Tauros likes someone it might take a LONG time for them to tell that person. So . . . yeah . . .
He was staring again. Those green eyes piercing me. He’d been doing it for a while. Not just today, though, he’d been looking at me for, what, the past couple of days? A week even? On stage, after, before. . . But it was ok; I’ve been looking, too.
A light hand bushed the small of Colin’s back as it made its way to his upper arm, giving it a gentle squeeze. “We need to be on stage,” Chip whispered.
“Huh?” Colin was pulled out of his reverie. “What happened?”
Chip’s smile came into focus and he stepped away towards the door of the green room. “You were daydreaming again, but we really need to go.” He opened the door and was about to leave but turned back as Colin was getting out of one of the chairs. Chip sighed and came back, “Look at your cloths.” He smoothed out the front and shoulders of Colin’s shirt. He moved to fix the collar and pulled on it a little to lower Colin’s head towards his.
Chip placed a quick kiss on Colin and went back to fixing his cloths. He glanced up into his partner’s eyes and saw that glazed look there. Chip had seen it before. Colin was thinking.
“What are you thinking about?” Chip moved away.
Colin was silent, than shook his head. “People.”
“Oh?” Chip saw reality slip back into Colin’s face. “What kind of people?”
“You,” Colin smiled and grabbed for his hand and squeezed it. “Let’s go.”
They left the green room and headed for the stage. They sat in their normal spots with everyone waiting for them to get there.
“What took so long?” Ryan asked.
“Emergency bathroom.” Colin lied smoothly as he readjusted himself in the seat.
“Ah,” Ryan looked around the audience lazily. “So, you wanna grab a beer after the taping?” His gaze finally came back around to Colin.
He hesitated a moment and cast a quick glance at Chip who was talking idly with Wayne. “Sure.” Colin agreed.
“Good.” Ryan nodded just as the audience started applauding for the opening cut.
“What?!” Chip exclaimed “But you were going to help me sort through my old records.” He was facing a calm Colin halfway out the door of their shared apartment.
“When did I say that?” Colin sighed.
“Three days ago. Remember?”
“No. But I do remember agreeing to go get a drink with Ryan, today.” He started to close the door behind him when he heard something that made him stop.
Turning back towards Chip, he saw that he had his hands to his face.
“Are you crying?” Colin was surprised.
Chip wiped at his eyes, “No”.
“Look, I’m just getting a drink, ok? I’ll be back before you know it and we can sort through all the records you want.” He slid a hand around Chip’s waist and pulled the younger man against him. Using the other hand to hold his chin, Colin looked at Chip’s red and slightly puffy eyes and smiled. He kissed him gently on the lips and both cheeks. “I’ll see you later, ok?”
Chip nodded and closed the door behind Colin.
He moved out into the dark night, making his way through the lamp lit street. Down to the dirtier end of town where the appointed place was. He kept his head down, skirting around the ladies of the night and their pimps; Colin made his way to the designated watering hole and spotted Ryan. His friend was waiting at the bar.
“I hope you didn’t have to wait long.” Colin apologized.
“No, not really.” Ryan took a swig of his beer.
“So, did you want to talk about anything?” Colin ordered a beer and they moved off to a quieter area.
“Not really. Just wanted to hang out.” Ryan looked uneasy, taking quick glances around the crowded bar. “Hey, why don’t we go take a walk outside?”
“Sure,” They got up from their newly located seats and headed towards the exit.
Beer in hand they both walked at an easy pace down the sidewalk. Small neon lights blinked at them from the clubs and bars they passed. Their doors open for the smoke and must and drunks to escape. But they didn’t take notice. Colin finished his drink and tossed it in a garbage bin and Ryan took careful study of his plain brown sneakers.
“So, what’s up?” Colin asked, shoving his hands into his pants pockets.
“A lot of stuff, I suppose.” Ryan looked up and over at Colin.
“You want to talk about it?”
“I don’t think you’ll like what I have to say.”
“Oh really?” Colin smiled at this. “How do you know?”
“I don’t- That’s why I haven’t said anything.” Ryan went back to looking at the pavement.
“Well, spill then. I’m here to listen.”
Ryan let out a deep sigh. “Ok. But don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
“Fine.”
They walked on farther down the street and moved to a deserted little seating area. Taking to a bench, Ryan commenced in the act of telling Colin what was on his mind.
“We’ve been friends for over 20 years now and from the moment we were introduced I knew we would become friends. But in those years,” Ryan looked away for a second, “Something’s happened.” He scratched the back of his head in a nervous gesture.
Colin looked at him quizzically. “What? Nothing bad, I hope.”
Ryan shook his head. “No, not bad . . . But it might be- I don’t know.” He got to his feet and Colin watched his friend with a concerned look.
“Come on, you can tell me.”
Ryan turned back to face Colin, “Col, I think . . .” He looked away again. Taking in a deep breath, Ryan let out what was weighing on his mind. “I think I’m in love with you.”
Silence passed between them for what seemed like hours. Ryan stood, waiting nervously for Colin’s response or at least something to show that he was still alive. He mentally kicked himself for springing this on his friend so fast.
Colin just sat there, a blank look glazed across his face. In his head he was arguing with himself about what to do.
How could this happen? 20 years of being friends. I don’t remember coming on to him, or even wanting to.
Yes, you do.
It could just be phase. Plus, I have Chip. . . Well, for now at least. . . And all our friendship down the drain. Because of love . . . Not that I don’t love him, as a friend.
It might work. He might be fun. Something different.
Another part of his brain was stirring at these musings.
You have always wondered what it would be like to really kiss him.
Shut up!
You have! And look at him, so expecting and nervous with his eyes cast down like a forlorn puppy. Just kiss him and see what happens. You might like it.
Colin sighed in resignation. He never liked to argue with himself. He got up from the bench slowly and closed the space between him and his friend.
“You love me?” he asked quietly.
Ryan nodded, still looking down.
The Canadian brought a hand up and placed it on Ryan’s cheek. He got up on his toes and placed a gentle kiss on the younger man’s warm lips.
In that second Colin felt something. A tingling in his brain, toes, and fingers. Liked he’d been shocked, but in a good way. It was something he’d never felt with anyone else. Not Chip or anybody. He liked it a lot and looking into Ryan’s eyes he knew he felt it, too.
Ryan bent down and took Colin’s lips with his own. They had both never felt so good as they did right now, being with each other. Colin tilted his head a bit for better advantage of Ryan. His hand moved up from his friend’s long face into his hair, pulling down harder.
Something else that's a little different- Since I know I don't write well, just look at the cut above ^, I did something different. Imagine, if you will, some of the guys given a sheet of paper with one of their names on it and the others have to comment on him. . . Work with me on this. I used different colored pens for each guy but sadly my scanner is black and white . . . So, I had to go through paint and color everything in. I think it's a cross between fanfiction and fanart . . . Please let me know how you feel about it!!!!!!
