Aw, thank you. ^_^ I appreciate you saying my stories make you think because while I like them to be fun, I also like them to have meaning, too.

I think freedom is a very specific, personal thing to every different person, and I think that Colin & Ryan illustrate that well in this chapter and the next. They have the same goal of escape in mind, but they have different ideas on how to do that. And I think that what you're saying about respect and absolute freedom are represented well by them, too. Ryan is absolute freedom with no respect, and he ends up hurting people along the way. Colin wants the same thing here in that he wants to get away from the life he's built for himself, but he's going about it with foresight and respect for the people he loves. The problem is that because he's being thoughtful, he also needs to restrict that freedom, and he can't get everything he wants. So there are both good and bad sides to the way each is handling it. Nothing is perfect. I think the key is to have that respect, but to also take chances and risk hurting people sometimes—a mix of Colin & Ryan's ideologies. It's still not perfect, but that's life.
