"Colin, I'm back!" I call out as I set foot through the front door and close it behind me softly. I've just returned from a tour with Greg, Jeff and Chip and though I try to make home visits on a regular basis whenever I'm on the road, this time I found that there wasn't enough room in my schedule. It's a pain, but I know that Colin understands - it's usually this way when he's off touring with Brad, too.
I hear no reply to my call, which confuses me slightly. "Col?" I try again a little louder this time, but I still receive no acknowledgement. Shrugging, I leave my bags by the front door and hang up my coat, kicking my shoes off in the process.
"At last." Whilst my back is turned, Colin approaches me from behind and slips his arms around my waist. I'm filled with glee and try to turn around in his embrace, but he resists me with a grunt.
"You've been very naughty, Ryan." At hearing that deep voice, I freeze and shudder involuntarily. I know that tone of voice he's using - he's very much in the mood, and he'll get no argument from me there.
"Why have I been naughty?" I ask equally deep-throated.
He brings a hand to my ass with a sharp slap and I jump in his arms. "Because you've starved me," he husks near my ear and rubs his hard groin up against me as proof. "I haven't been with you in months and I've gone damn near insane."
I hold back a moan at the feel of him after so long, and continue to play the game. "I'm sorry, baby. Perhaps I should make it up to you?"
"Anyway I want?" Colin's massaging my ass cheek with slow strokes, which is making it hard to stay focused.
"Anyway you want," I reply with a grin - Colin taking lead is a rare occurrence, but I'm always very happy when he does. He's far more passionate and extrovert than people believe him to be, and I love it when he reveals that side of him. Mainly because it's always for me.
His grip loosens and I turn immediately, smiling wider at seeing his wonderful face. His eyes are soft and glazed with determination and I can't help but shudder at the thought of what he might have planned for me.
Clasping his hands around my neck, he brings me down for a passionate kiss and lets out a sigh. I mimic his feelings and moan softly whilst wrapping my arms around his waist, bringing him as close to me as I can manage. Kissing him is amazing and I could happily do it all afternoon (which is nothing new, believe me) but perhaps not today - deprivation of a few months worth of making love needs to be hastily attended to.
Colin breaks our kiss for much needed breath and we pant together noisily, his hands in my hair and mine underneath his shirt, rubbing at his bare back. "Ryan… I need you," he whispers against my parted lips and presses his hard member against my thigh in desperation. I swallow in realisation of my own need, starting to grow in fervour.
"Yeah, Col… yeah…" I lean down and suck at his neck in response and the grip he holds in my hair tightens. He lets me suckle for a while before pushing me away gently and leading me into the living room. He's turned even more dominating when he sits me down onto the couch with energy and clambers on also, straddling my lap and wrapping his arms around my neck. I slide my arms around his waist but he's batting
my hands away as soon as I do.
"Ah-ah, no touching," he reprimands softly. I let my arms drop to my sides with a whine, making my best lost toddler face at him. He just laughs and kisses my forehead. "Just sit. And watch."
So I do - I watch as he moves a hand to my shirt buttons and flicks the top one open with expertise, fingering my chest hair. I watch painstakingly as he moves both hands to the bottom of his own shirt, taking one side in each hand and pulling sharply. The buttons are torn open in one fluid chain, from his waist to his neck in a matter of one second, revealing his wonderful chest to my hungry eyes and the movement leaves my mouth completely dry. He shrugs the shirt off and away and places his arms back around my neck.
He notices me rubbing my erection through my jeans and smiles. "I want you to come for me."
Chuckling, I nod slowly in ever-present amusement of him in these heated moments. “All right, okay…”
When our lips reattach, Colin shifts himself forward a couple of inches until our covered arousals meet. I squeak in surprise, which pleases him as I feel him smile against the kiss. He tugs and pulls at my shirt until I can twist myself out of it, not batting an eyelid when he throws it to the floor next to his.
I just love Colin in these jeans – these dark blue ones that cling to his thighs and mould his ass like nothing else. I must remember to write a fan letter to Levi’s.
My hands slide to his beautiful denim-clad buttocks and pull him up so I can decorate his neck with my tongue and lips while his hands smooth over my chest. I know that Colin wants to be in control this time, but… there’s so much about those jeans that drive me wild for him. I don’t want him to take them off.
“Let’s dry hump.”
Colin freezes and pulls back to look directly at me, his face a picture of surprise. “What?”
I can feel myself blush and I’m hoping he finds it adorable, as per usual. “It would be really sexy,” I whisper, brushing my lips against his chin and exhaling slowly. “And I love you.”
“That’s a terrible excuse,” he teases and leans into me, eyes drifting closed. “But your argument is very persuasive.”
Smiling to myself, I reach out and cup his bulging groin, squeezing and rubbing suggestively. “How much more persuasion do you want, baby?”
He starts to moan and thrust against my hand. “Ryan… yeah… okay, let’s do it.” He climbs off the couch and husks, “Lie down.”
So I do – moving so that I’m lain horizontally across the couch and he clambers aboard once more. I’m eternally grateful for our big couches for just such a purpose.
He bends down to kiss me and my arms are around his shoulders in an instant, holding him close while he aligns us together expertly. Our tongues are like two overly acquainted neighbours and I moan when he nips and sucks at my lips. When he brings my arms up and threads his fingers through mine, he looks down at me passionately with eyes like dark onyx. “I love you, Ryan.”
“Love you, too.”
Now he begins to move, thrusting our covered erections together with an expertise so natural to him, like he was made for it. It’s almost as good as the real thing, and I know I’ll be treated to a lot of that later. But for now I have to bask in this, thrust along with him and whisper his name like a pulse – without which I’d die.
“Oh… I’ve missed you, Colin… missed this,”
His face is against my neck, so his reply his muffled. “Gone crazy without you, Ry… I need you right now… right… fucking… now.”
Any and all control breaks at that moment. His grinding is hurried, biting at my neck and gasping rapid hot breaths. His hands release mine and grasp at the cushions either side of us while mine immediately fall back to his buttocks desperately, almost trying to dig my fingernails into the tight denim.
I have to cry out to the heavens, scream how thankful I am to God that I’m in love with Colin Mochrie. And also something about how I’m so, so close and how great this feels…
Colin arches his back and moans loudly and the mere look on his face is enough to send me spiralling into orgasm, panting like a happy dog. We’ve both come together, as always, which pleases me intimately. And then he’s back down again, kissing me and running his hands over my chest gently. His body falls in exhaustion but I catch him easily, never letting him go.
“I haven’t felt that in my underwear for years,” I smile up at him and he scrunches his nose but betrays himself with a laugh.
“Well, it was your idea,” he whispers and kisses me again.
“Thank you, that was so great.”
“Oh, we’re not done yet. This is only the start...”
What have I done to deserve such a wonderful man? Completely forgetting our location, we roll and fall to the floor with a thud, taking us both by surprise. We’re both laughing now, feeling our chests hitch in giggles against each other and loving it. “In bed this time?” I ask.
“We’ll need the space,” he agrees and winks at me, pushing me to my feet and dragging me upstairs where a king-size bed awaits us.
Perhaps I should deprive him of sex more often?

I glance up at the clock mounted on the kitchen wall with anxious eyes. 6:15, Colin should be home in fifteen minutes; that’s just enough time to get everything finalised for tonight. All the stuff is in the car and I’m dressed in my favourite casual clothes: A red buttoned, short-sleeved shirt with one of my special ties to compliment the outfit and my best jeans. Colin always says that this combination makes me look “dishy”, as he so elegantly put it.
I just need to check one more thing and I begin to dial on my cell phone. I keep the conversation brief, as it will only be ten minutes until my adorable little dinosaur is due home.
“Hey, it’s Ryan … I’m fine, everything’s good and ready this end. Is it all set up now? … Yep, 8pm on the dot, okay? … Great, thanks again. Bye.”
As I slap the device shut, I can’t stop the smirk from spreading across my face and look over at today’s date on the calendar:
November thirtieth. Colin’s birthday.
Normally, Colin likes very minimal fuss whenever this day comes around. Just a small gift is enough for him these days, possibly because he doesn’t like to be reminded that he’s getting older. But every passing day just makes him more beautiful in my eyes because it’s another day I get to spend with him, and I’m so thrilled that there’ll be so many more to come. That’s what today is all about.
When I learnt that the evening of his birthday would be a clear sky with very little wind, I suddenly got a brainwave. Minimal fuss? Pah! It’s time to change all that. Canada is always so beautiful in the evening light of a crisp fall and there are so many wonderful places to go and view what this country has to offer, whether it be stunning valleys or sparkling cities.
Right now, Colin is on his way back from visiting his son in Toronto. Little did we know, Luke had been planning it for ages; he hasn’t seen much of Colin since we moved here a few years ago. So when Luke rang up offering to take his father out for a meal on his birthday, Colin accepted in a shot. I’m wondering if my kids are planning anything like that with me for my next birthday - here’s hoping. I haven’t seen them in months and I miss them like crazy.
There’s the car. He’s home. I haven’t seen him since last night because he had to leave early this morning. I’ve suddenly gotten so nervous I might have to sit down for a bit. But I can’t, I want to be at the door when he comes in. Instead, I stand and lean against a wall. Hardly inconspicuous, but it’ll do.
When he opens the door, I sigh happily at the sight of him. He looks so good clad in his white shirt and black leather jacket, I just want to hold him all night and not let go. Not yet though, there are important things to attend to first.
“Hello, you,” he says cheerfully as he kicks of his shoes and slips his jacket off those broad shoulders I love so much.
“Hey, birthday boy.“ I grin, stepping forward into his arms to kiss him passionately as he sighs with contentment. When we finally break, I rest my forehead on his and stare lovingly into his eyes. “God, I missed you today.”
“Mmm, I missed you too.” He hums whilst I begin to suckle his neck; the vibrations of his voice against my lips send pulses of pleasure through me. It saddens me to do so, but I pull away from him.
“Get those shoes back on, mister, you’re coming with me.”
He raises an eyebrow. “What? Where are we going?”
I snake my hands around his waist and kiss him on the nose before giggling. “Ahh, now that would be telling.” He doesn’t like not knowing what I’m up to so he turns on the puppy-dog face complete with trembling lower lip and bulging eyes. I’m inwardly melting, but I still won’t tell him. “Now, don’t make that face at me, you know I can‘t resist it.”
“I do know,“ he grins. “So, are you going to tell me?“
I really want to, but it takes every fibre in my being not to. “Nope.” I say with a completely unfazed facial expression. “Shoes.”
Colin sighs and sets about fastening his sneakers. But just before he picks up his jacket, I stop him. “Don’t worry, you won’t be needing that.”
He makes a face at me. “Wha- Ryan, it’s nearly zero degrees out there.”
“I know, trust me Colin. You won’t need it.”
“Let me guess: Drive-Through?”
I roll my eyes at his attempts to get me to spill it. “How cheap do you think I am? Go get in the car.”
“Yes, dear,” he sighs with a smile and I start laughing at how completely typical we are.
~~~
Once we’re both on the road, I keep catching Colin staring at me with a devious smile, attempting to suss me out. It’s not going to work though, I’m making sure of that. The only downside being he’s starting to run out of ideas, so converts to a plan he know will work. At the next red light, he reaches over and gently cups me. I yelp, bring my knees upwards and begin giggling uncontrollably.
“Colin! Not now!” I squeal, grateful we weren’t moving when he did that.
He pouts, disappointed. “Aww, you’re no fun. I’ve been waiting to get my hands on you all day.”
“There’ll be plenty of time for that later, besides, we’re nearly there.”
Giving up at last, he turns to look out of the window at where we are and I smile at the bemused look on his face. I’ve not taken him here before; I’ve been waiting until this day to share it with him.
When I stop the car, he’s staring intensely out into the falling darkness desperately trying to figure out where I’ve brought him. “Where are we?” he asks with that lingering curiosity. I lean over and kiss him quickly before whispering, “You’ll see.”
~~~
Being my cunning and wicked self, I’ve blindfolded him and I’m leading him up this forest trail, much to my amusement and much to his bewilderment. As we walk, he begins to shiver and I realise that the cold is getting to him. I snuggle myself closer to him and rub his exposed arms tenderly, soothing the goose bumps on his skin.
“Thanks,” he says warmly.
I kiss his cheek and grin. “Nearly there.” I whisper.
After another few minutes of trekking, I successfully guide Colin to the intended destination. I stand him at a fixed point and walk away. “Just wait here a minute.” I say and go to set up something that I brought from the car. I glance at him quickly and notice his hands moving towards his covered eyes. “I swear, Colin, if you take off that blindfold you won’t be getting any tonight.”
Colin huffs, but obeys none the less.
As I set up the surprise, I keep stealing glances at my Colin to make sure he isn’t having a sneaky peek. I love him so much; I just adore admiring him like this. Even though all he’s doing is standing there like a lemon with a cloth tied around his eyes, I admire him when he’s doing practically anything. Hell, I’d admire him if he were clipping his toenails. And I have, come to think of it.
Once I’m sure everything’s perfect, I come back to stand behind him and set my hands to the knot in his blindfold. “Happy birthday, Colin.” I whisper and remove the restriction from his view. His reaction is a gasp when he looks at what I’ve done for him.
Before us is a city, bathed in the nightlife lights, surrounded by luscious green hills. The wonderful illuminations brighten the landscape and make for a truly jaw-dropping view. Though the lights aren’t so bright that they obscure our view of a beautiful, starry sky. Set up on the ground is a picnic blanket, a bottle of chilled champagne and some strawberries.
“Ryan…” is all Colin can say.
I’m grinning heartily as I wrap my arms around his waist and kiss his neck. “Do you like it?”
“I… it’s… Oh, Ryan.”
“I’ll take that as a yes then, shall I?”
He turns in my arms to face me and I nearly faint from the look in his eyes. The sheer love, adoration and wonder of him I can see just by staring into those endless mocha pools. And then he kisses me, sweet and tender whilst on his tiptoes. “I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve you,” he whispers when we break.
I’m grinning so much my cheeks are beginning to ache, but I don’t care. I’m so happy he’s here with me tonight. I want to make his birthday so memorable for him - and that’s just what I’m going to do. “I love you, Col.”
“I love you, too. So much.” He kisses me again and I sigh - life just doesn’t get any more perfect than this.
~~~
And so, after we’ve settled down on the blanket and devoured the strawberries in the beautiful atmosphere, we’re sitting up together, looking out at the view. We watch how the lights cast a soft glow into the sky and how the stars in the dark twinkle mystically. I have my arm around Colin’s shoulders whilst he clings to me. The cold has picked up strength now, especially since we’re quite high up but sharing our body heat seems to be working a treat.
“Best birthday ever,” Colin sighs next to me, nuzzling his cheek against my shoulder.
“You just wait, it might get better.“ Over his head, I sneak a look at my watch. 7:57. Just a few more minutes… “Very soon.”
He looks at me with twinkling eyes, leering closer. “Ryan, does that mean what I think it means?”
He‘s playing with my lapels and using that deep voice I know so well. “Mmm, maybe it does…”
We wrap our arms around each other and lower ourselves down to the ground in a heap, kissing passionately. We’re well on our way to wrapping up the night right now, but just as he starts to fumble with the buttons of my shirt…
*BANG*
Colin is startled away from the kiss, just in time to see a crackle of red sparks broaden itself across the sky, followed by two more shooting rockets exploding in vibrant bursts of green and pink. Colin sits up and stares in awe at the firework display, mesmerised by the colours and lights before us. And in the coloured lights, his face glows with an enchanting aura.
“Ryan, did you…?” I don’t answer him but smile in a cheeky way that’s answer enough, and his eyes light up in realisation. “Oh, Ry…”
I cuddle into him, keeping us both warm as we watch the sky brighten with each new firework. “Anything for you.” For a time we sit in silence, watching the display and holding each other before I get that butterfly feeling in the pit of my stomach and my heart starts to beat a samba. It’s time.
“Colin?”
“Mmm?”
I pull away from him completely and he looks at me in confusion, wondering what I’m up to. I manoeuvre myself onto one knee, which seems pretty pointless seeing as I was sitting down in the first place. But this has to be done right. I reach into my pocket and… yes, thank God it’s still there, I was hoping I hadn’t lost it.
He sees what I’m doing and gasps, a hand coming to his mouth and his eyes never leaving the small item in my hand. Not even the eccentric fireworks can steal his attention. I’m almost shaking with my nerves but eventually, on my dry tongue, I manage to form words.
“Colin, you mean everything to me. I’ve loved you since the day I met you and although we’ve only been a couple for a few years, you’ve made them the best years of my life. And I want to spend the rest of it with you. Colin… will you marry me?”
And then, on the bang of a firework, I open the little velvet box to reveal the thick, white gold ring decorated with emerald stones. Colin just gasps again and keeps his hand at his mouth; he then looks back at me in utter shock whilst I simply smile at him, staying silent, as tense as a tightly-coiled spring as I watch him look at the ring again then look at me for the third time. I can see the tears pooling in his eyes, they sparkle with each background burst of light.
He closes his eyes briefly and the movement causes the tears to run down his cheeks. His gaping mouth suddenly forms the biggest smile I’ve ever seen grace his handsome face and then, he says the single most beautiful word I’ll ever hear him say.
“Yes.”
Upon this declaration, I can honestly say that I’ve never been happier and the wide grin on my face is proof of that. I retrieve the ring from the box and take hold of Colin’s left hand in order to slip it easily onto his fourth finger. It’s a perfect fit - a bit like us. I admire the band sitting snug on his finger and my tears are flowing in an unstoppable emotional rush at the sight. Colin stares at the jewellery, crying and smiling as we hold hands. Then he looks at me with those adoring eyes - I could look at them for the rest of my life. And I’m going to be able to.
He throws his arms around me with such force that I lose my balance and we fall to the ground together, laughing through our tears. We settle next to each other, laying on the blanket and staring dreamily into each other’s eyes.
“I love you so much,” I say, knowing that I’ll never tire of telling him so. I wipe his tears away as he kisses my palm.
“I love you, too, Ryan.”
The fireworks exploding in the air ignite us and we begin to kiss again, lightly at first until it deepens to a tongue duel. I promised myself I’d make this birthday one to remember and I kept that promise. In fact, I’ll make everyday count, knowing that each one is a day I get to spend with him. And so starts our journey - the rest of our lives together.
I can’t wait.
