Firefly – A Multi Chaptered Fic

Prologue

The man stood, tall yet stooped, silently before the charred remains of what had been a home filled with joy, laughter, friends, hard times and good times. A single tear traced its way down his dusty cheek. Not so much seeing what stood before him, he found himself absorbed in the past.

He felt all adrift. Everything had been lost… Pictures of his children were irreplaceable, especially now that precious little Claire had succumbed to her dread disease. All the mementoes he and Colin had gathered throughout the years they’d been together, gifts and keepsakes they’d given each other.

Feeling overwhelmed again by his grief, he fell, first to his knees then move to simply sitting on the gravel beneath him, his face coming to rest in his hands. Silent sobs shaking his thin frame. His thoughts could not escape the day… THAT DAY. Before what had been his life was incinerated. He and Colin **oh dear God, Colin…** had begun their Christmas day…
