Chapter 1

It ended badly. That’s all I can say right now to sum up my five-year relationship with Ryan. No sweet memories to reminiscent on at the moment. Just the fight between he and I that officially ended it plays over and over in my mind.

“This is just not working out from me.” Ryan told me.

“What do you mean its not working out for you?!” I yelled at him. “We’ve been together for almost five years! How long has this not been working out for you? And what do mean ‘this’?”

“There’s no room to breathe with you, Greg.” Ryan threw his suitcase onto the bed and opened it. “One, you’re over-possessive of me but then you make goo-goo eyes at all the guys on the show, and I just don’t get that at all. And two, I’m just ready to move on to something else.”

“You mean, you’re ready to move on to somebody else.” I glared at him. I had hoped that my anger would shield how heart-broken I was. “Besides, the goo-goo eyes I make don’t mean anything, I swear! I’m playing around to make the game more fun.”

Ryan rolled eyes. He didn’t believe me.

“Look, I’m sure that we’ll get over this soon enough.” Ryan started digging through the dresser, sorting his clothes from mine. “We’ll be over each other in two weeks at the most.”

I was thankful that he wasn’t showing as much rage as he usual does when he was pissed off, but then I was hurt by the fact he had made his decision before even discussing the problem with me first.

“What! It will take me a lot longer than two weeks! I’d hope it would take you longer too.” Tears welled up in my eyes and my voice cracked slightly.

“I’m officially over you now.” Ryan slammed the suitcase shut, with some of the clothes sticking out of the sides.

I moved closer to him and reached for his arm. “Please, Ryan, don’t go.”

Ryan looked down at me and huffed. “Pfft! I’m not going anywhere.”

Before I knew it, I was being ushered out of the apartment - our apartment, which we had shared for years. As soon as I was past the doorstep, Ryan shut the door in my face. I stared at the doorframe as if it were a black hole, sucking all of my happy memories into oblivion. That’s when it began to rain.

Six months had past and I still wasn’t over him. That night when Ryan and I broke it off, I went to Tony’s place. Tony has been my closest friend since the start of us working together on the British version of Whose Line. He let me stay at his place for a while and then eventually helped me find another apartment. Tony also helped me work through these painful six months of getting over Ryan. He bought gallons of Rock-Road ice cream and we’d sit on his couch and eat it, and I’d break into tears and he would then hold me and tell me that things would get better. Even now that I’ve moved into my new place, he still comes to spend time with me. He still brings ice cream with him.

It seemed like my life was moving at it’s own course, because shortly after Ryan and I broke it off, Dan Patterson and the other producers announced that they were moving the show to the was moving its location to the US and that Clive was no longer going to be hosting it. They all seemed optimistic about the new version, as was I, but I was going to miss working with John, Steve, Josie, and Tony. I was even going to miss Clive. Thankfully, I still get to work with Colin and, no matter how painful it is, with Ryan.
