Author: Anesthesiagirl
Rating: PG
Summary: Quick little bit where Drew gets a cute surprise. For Sue for dealing with my complete lack of writing on AH!
Disclaimer: Don't own, don't sue.

Drew was used to watching from the sidelines. He'd spent nearly six years basically watching the other guys light up the stage, occasionally chancing to join them, but realizing his inadequacy every time. Hell, even on his own show, the show that so craftly sported his own name, he was a sideline player. Kathy, Ryan, Deidrich, even Craig.......they were the real life of the show. He just bounced off their genius. Yeah, he was used to it by now.

But there was one thing he never got used to watching from the sidelines. He'd spent years watching his friends leave the bar, the studio, the party, whatever, together. Arm in arm, masked words spoken in dark, hushed tones and glances that lasted a bit too long. All of them had slept with each other, all of them except him that was. And it wasn't for lack of trying. He'd been trying for years. They all wanted him around until......until they wanted a warm body........then they couldn't get far enough away. Sure, there were always pleasantries, but they might have well just said they thought he was disgusting for how they made him feel.

And here was another night, the party dying down, Ryan and Colin practically on top of each other in the corner, Greg and Chip actually making puppy-dog eyes at each other, and Jeff and Brad already having excused themselves to the bathroom, not even bothering with the process of trying to make it look like they weren't going in together. That left only he and Wayne single and by the looks of it, Wayne wouldn't be single for much longer. He was leaning back against the bar holding court to a group of young ladies, all gorgeous and all pawing all over him. Drew sucked in a bitter breath and downed the last of his beer. He grabbed his jacket and made for the door, not even bothering to say goodbye to his 'friends'.

He'd pulled open the door and felt the first blast of the icy night air just before he felt the warm hand fall on his shoulder. Drew turned to find Wayne's bright face smiling back at him.

"Leaving?" Wayne asked casually, spinning Drew to face him.

"Yeah, go back to your harem. I'll see you tomorrow." Drew spat and turned back to the door.

"No you won't." Wayne continued, turning drew back around again.

"Won't what?" Drew asked, his anger bubbling higher and higher.

"You won't see me tomorrow. You'll see me tonight. Now. And hopefully many more nights to come. I want you Drew and I won't take no for an answer. Let's go." Wayne said, slipping his arm around Drew's waist and pulling him to the door.

The rest of his life might be lived on the sidelines, but this one time he was finally in the game and Drew smiled like a little boy at Christmas!
