Part 2

1990

Colin lined up the three independently indecipherable pieces of paper that had come in three different letters. A whole damn week they had all taken to get to him, and now, as he was just about to finish packing for the trip to England, he joined the pieces and read the words meant only for him.

Call in eye emmy sew prow duff ewe
can twat two sea ewe elgin
ay no ay half knot al waste

pin dairy lie que won’t meat

eew bee butt

eye alum doing awl eye kin

two kelp gusto gather
Eye tank elvin tap yo arm eine
ay mist yew nor din ewe cloud heifer now

Colin smiled at the seemingly jumbled array of letters on the pages and stepped back toward his closet to grab another handful of sweaters to cram into his luggage atop a certain cigar box.

“We found this note on the floor here,” Jeff confessed. “But it doesn’t make any sense at all.”

“Note?” Drew queried… “Let me see that.”

He grabbed the piece of paper and stared at it in serious contemplation, then dug in his front shirt pocket and pulled out a second piece of paper which he held next to the other strange words. It was a perfect match to Jeff and Greg’s piece.

The only sound in the room was a clock ticking away in the corner as the three men contemplated. These were obviously no random pieces of effluvia.

Placed together, the mysterious missive continued:

Meat mei dairy

Wheel dew eat

ana danna qwack

money moan.

“Money moan?” Jeff was still scratching his head.

Greg frowned at the two slips of paper, a creeping thought in his head muttering something about this looking just an eensy bit familiar…

“Where’d you get this, man?”

Drew shrugged. “Saw it lying on the stage. Thought it might be important.”

One was written on the back of a torn clue card from a game of Party Quirks, the other on the same kind of napkin they always had at the craft services table.

Oh this is fun, I just got way to excited cos I think that I've figured out the first note, the second half of the second one has me flumoxed tho. I agree with Jeff, money moan? *wanders off playing with words hopefully.*
