Title: Rest Assured
Pairing: Greg/Tony (that was the one that called out to me, so I ran with it)
Summary: Tony's not feeling well, and Greg decides to show his softer side. Fluffiness ensues.
Song: Lullaby by The Spill Canvas
Tony's hair was such a far cry from the usual meticulous neatness (aside from the one adorable little bit that was free to do as it pleased, usually meaning Tony had to keep swiping it out of his eyes) that- had he not known him so well- Greg could have mistaken him for someone else. It was a mess, damp and stuck to his forehead with sweat, and the darkness of it made Tony seem that much more pale.
"Shit, Tony," Greg sighed, carefully sitting on the bed in an effort not to disturb the Brit. "You look terrible." The smallest hint of a smile found it's way to Tony's lips.
"Thanks."
"Anything I can do to help?" asked Greg as he brushed the hair out of Tony's eyes. His arms wrapped around Tony as if it was the most natural thing he had ever done- and maybe it was.
A faint pink rose in Tony's cheeks as he mumbled a request so quietly that he had to repeat himself. "Sing to me?" There was almost a minute spent in full silence before Greg's voice broke through the still air.
"Seriously?" Greg's eyebrows nearly met his hairline as he watched Tony. "Of all the things...?"
"Yes, seriously. If you don't- never mind, it was a silly-" He was silenced by a chaste kiss on his forehead and a smile.
It's the way that you blush when you're nervous,
It's your ability to make me earn this;
I know that you're tired, just let me sing you to sleep.
It's about how you laugh out of pity,
'Cause let's be honest, I'm really not that funny.
I know that you're shy, just let me sing you to sleep.
Tony sighed softly and relaxed into Greg's comforting embrace, his persistent shivering finally slowing to a stop.
If you need anything, just say the word- I mean anything,
Rest assured, if you start to doze, I'll tuck you in
Plant my lips where your necklaces close.
It's those pills that you don't need to take,
Medicating perfection, now that's a mistake.
I know that you're spent, jut let me sing you to sleep.
It's your finger, and how I'm wrapped around it.
It's your grace, and how it keeps me grounded.
I know that you're weak, just let me sing you to sleep.
Tony's eyes fluttered closed, his breathing nothing more than the slow, rhythmic rise and fall of his chest. He had fallen asleep with an ease he was unaccustomed to, giving an unsettling clue as to how poorly he had been sleeping for the past few days. Greg was struck suddenly by how easy it was to lay beside Tony, how natural it was to hold him and comfort him... it was as if the only reason he had been made was to be there with Tony. It was the only thing he could ever imagine doing.
If you need anything, just say the word- I mean anything
Rest assured, if you start to doze, then I'll tuck you in
Plant my lips where your necklaces close
While you were sleeping I figured out everything,
I was constructed for you, and you were moulded for me.
Now I feel your name, coursing through my veins.
You shine so bright it's insane, you put the sun to shame.
If you need anything, just say the word- I mean anything
Rest assured, if you start to doze, then I'll tuck you in
Plant my lips where your necklaces...
If you need anything, just say the word- I mean anything
Rest assured, if you start to doze, then I'll tuck you in
Plant my lips where your necklaces close
Greg's eyelids were suddenly very heavy; he couldn't have kept awake for five more minutes if he had tried. It would have been impossible for him to move, not that he wanted to. He was far too comfortable with Tony by his side to get up.
Yes, it was overwhelmingly simple now. He had to be with Tony. Anything else was just silly, incomprehensible.
