*Two years earlier*

Allison hugged her coat tightly around her tiny frame as the freezing air caused her to shiver. She had been waiting at the stage door of Raleigh Studios in Hollywood every week for the past year, just hoping she might catch a glimpse of her favourite improviser, Brad Sherwood. She didn't know why she liked him so much but she did know that she had to meet him. Just one. Just to say that she had met him and could then get on with her life. However, about a month ago, she had given up all hope on ever meeting them. She had always been turned away in the past and it was now that she finally realised she would never get a chance to see them.

However, now Allison came to the stage door for a whole new reason. One of the security guards, Mike, had taken a liking to her and they had agreed to go on a date. She was wearing a pair of high heels she could barely walk in and she had to balance on gating to ensure she didn't fall over. She caught Mike's eye when she saw him stood at the door with crossed arms and gave him a subtle wave. He returned her greeting with a smile and walked towards where she was stood. Allison tried to look casual as she leaned on the gate and pulled out a cigarette. She didn't usually smoke but she was nervous and felt a quick hit of nicotine might calm her down a bit. Mike reached her side and looked her up and down. He seemed impressed with what he saw.

"You're lookin' smokin' tonight Miss Ali" he winked as he joined her at her side. Allison lit up and took a deep drag on her cigarette. She then turned to look at him and forced a genuine looking smile.

"Looking pretty good yourself there Mikey" she teased before taking another drag on the cigarette, watching as the red ash crept closer and closer to the filter. She exhaled the smoke and watched as it created interesting patterns in the air. Before she snapped out of her fascination, the cigarette was plucked from her fingers and dropped the floor. Mike's large foot then came down on it stubbed out the smoldering ash.  She sighed and crossed her arms in front of her, visibly annoyed. Mike placed an arm across her shoulders, hoping he hadn't upset her too much.

"I'm just lookin' out for you hun. You know what those cancer sticks do to people. I just don' wanna see you get hurt..." The sentiment was clear in Mike's voice and this melted Allison's frosty stance slightly. Feeling embarrassed by her sudden mood swing, she pushed herself away from the gate to face Mike and took both of his hands in hers. She caressed her thumbs of his as her gaze focused on his chocolaty orbs. They didn't have the same shocking quality as Brad's puppy dog eyes but they would do for now.

"I'm sorry sweetie. I dunno what came over me. I think you can tell I am a little nervous." This little admission caused Mike to laugh and shift their hand positions so that both of his hands were clutching onto her right hand. Allison felt slightly unbalanced but tried to remain as upright as her heels would allow her to. Mike didn't seem to notice her unsteady stance at all which was a relief at the time.

"Don't be nervous...maybe we should just get going. I mean the table is booked for six at it's five now." He watched as Ali just nodded before feeling her other hand being released and she felt more unstable than ever.

"I just need to pee. Will be five minutes." With that, Mike took off inside the stage door and left Allison on her own. She wanted to shuffle back to the gate but swore that she would fall before she made it. She instead decided to brave it and stand as still as possible without support. If she didn't move, there was no possible way she could fall. Just as she pondered this thought, she heard a crash and before she could even react, she felt her head hit the cold floor and then darkness.

Ryan Stiles stood in the doorway and watched in horror as Brad ploughed straight into the poor girl. He should never have pushed him. The girl appeared to be unconscious and Brad was too shocked to move too much. However, it wasn't long before Wayne Brady and Jeff Davis had appeared at the door and sprung into action. Wayne pulled out his cell phone and dialled 911 whilst Jeff went to kneel at the girl's side and check her vitals. He placed a hand to her chest and felt a soft rise and fall of her breathing. He then opened her mouth carefully and lowered his cheek close. He could feel shallow breaths on his cheek so she was obviously breathing. The last check he did was to softly pinch her legs and the tips of her fingers. Both lightly reacted at his touch. Jeff gave these details to Wayne who told the ambulance. They were told she was not paralysed so they could move her carefully out of the cold. The ambulance would arrive soon.

Brad was pulling himself together when he saw his cast mates lifting an unconscious girl up and into the backstage area. He caught a glimpse of her peaceful face and felt his heart flutter lightly in his chest. How could he have been so stupid as to knock down the prettiest girl in a 20 mile radius? He slowly started to get up but was greeted with Ryan and Colin at his sides helping him. They all stood for a second before Colin spoke up.

"Mind telling me what happened?" He had an irritated look on his face as his gaze flicked between his best friend and his lover. They both shrugged their shoulders in confusion.

"All I know is one minute I was behind the door, the next minute I was on the ground with a girl lying next to me...sounds like a normal Saturday night to me." Brad tried to lighten the mood but it was useless. Everybody was too shocked to feel the light hearted nature of Brad Sherwood. So, Brad just shrugged his shoulders and pointed towards the door.

"Well I'm a little chilly. I think I'm gonna head inside..." With that, he briskly walked towards the stage door and entered himself.

Ryan looked at Colin and the shock present on his face faded slightly. Colin just had a way of making his icy personality melt and let his caring nature shine through. He slung an arm over his shorter lover’s shoulders and rubbed the tufty blond  hair lovingly with the palm of his hand. He knew Colin well enough to know that he loved what little hair he had left to be tickled. Maybe he was the cat in the past life, not Jeff.

“Wanna go in? It’s freezing out here.” Colin’s teeth were chattering slightly as he spoke and Ryan found this adorable. He played with the idea of staying outside and seeing whether it was possible to melt ice with body heat. However, a strong gust of icy wind circled the pair and Ryan decided against any outside antics at this moment in time. After all, it was always more fun in the warm. He nodded his head softly before landing a soft, warming kiss on Colin’s red nose. He then led the way inside the stage door.

Mike was oblivious to the recent events and was shocked to find Allison was not outside. Assuming she had done a runner, he pulled out his phone angrily and sent a simple text.

“Forget the date!”

With that, she snapped his phone shut and thrust it back into his pocket before storming off down the road towards Zizzi’s to cancel the table.
