Changeling
Chapter six
By blindlyluv
Summary: The Monster
Disclaimer: The guys are not mine. Lily is. Unfortunately, so is the monster.
fantasy, Ryan/Colin, slash, language
Lily's giggles and smile died quickly and in silence as her eyes suddenly darted upward and around them until the ground beneath them began to slowly shake. She Looked up at Col and Ry her eyes locked on theirs in obvious seriousness. she reached for both of their hands, and the family of three ran as one...
Back to the corner where they had first found her. She crouched low and her daddies followed suit unquestioning. Ryan came to realize that the air around them was buzzing...vibrating. "Ry," Colin whispered as both men became aware that their daughters wings, which had seemed so tiny, beautiful and, well... useless. had unfurled themselves to nearly the size of a grandfather clock, and were...humming, not really flapping but vibrating so fast as appear invisible. Ryan's quick-trap mind had time for a quick mental inquiry as to how something could "APPEAR INVISIBLE".
Although frighted beyond the ability to speak, the two men looked lovingly at their tiny daughter, and at each other in unspoken acknowledgment that the were prepared to die defending her and each other. They leaned in and kissed each other strongly, then kissed Lily's head which was bowed as if in deep concentration.
It was the foul smell that hit them before they actually saw or perhaps even heard it. Hit them is putting it so mildly. More like being dropped from a high cliff into the freshly opened cesspool of Dysentery Island. It was large. Walking on four legs, it was, at shoulder height, as tall as Ryan. Its odor and appearance like a sort of huge, rotting, moldering, pig/rat which didn't realize it had died a couple of day ago and had putrified since then in the heat and humidity of the bog of eternal stench.
It had a long tail which whipped back and forth, thoughtlessly knocking their things about. Snuffling around, clearly searching for Lily, it seemed to catch her scent now and again as the snort grew louder and if possible more disgusting. Colin wondered if it would actually evacuated it bowels there in their room, he didn't even want to think about that.
It shuffled, or oozed throughout their home. Things were heard breaking, burning, (yes, that's right, dragon breath), or being defiled in a variety of unspoken ways. The fire alarms and sprinklers were going like crazy. At one point the carcass creature (Colin had named in) nosed right up to them. Lily kept hold of their hands tightly, Ryan choked out an "Oh fuck." Colin gulped audibly and tightly closed his eyes. At least they were going together....
Whatever Lily was doing, or for some whatever reason, they were undetected by it. It finally left, leaving them feeling exhausted and quite defiled merely by being in its presence.
Ryan look at Colin and Lily. with his sleeve he gently wiped the sweat running down Colin's forehead. Lily, her wings again tightly folded was still holding her daddies hands but was clearly falling asleep. Without a spoken word, Ry and Col scooped her up together and soon all three slept, the deep and easy sleep of the truly good and sound of heart.

Though I have to admit I think it's a little strange that they would just go "Okay, it's gone." *pass out* You think there'd be some discussion or at the very least a moment of genuine freaking out.
